A sequel to StarLancer, a prequel to Freelancer!

I haven't played StarLancer before, but it sounds kinda cool lol! I have a proposal for you:

Is there anybody out there who would like to help me create a total conversion mod for Freelancer (sorry StarLancers) to fit before Freelancer and after StarLancer?

As far as I am aware, Freelancer is much easier to Mod, and therefore all you die hard StarLancer fans would have to abandon the good old joystick and move to the more conventional mouse and keyboard. Although there is a mod out there somewhere that lets you map the joystick controls to those of the mouse and keyboard, I think.

Details:-
> [uBits between the end of StarLancer and the escape from Sol[/u
>> End of the war as we know it
>> The escape from Sol (could even include an option to assist the piloting (or even pilot) one of the sleeper ships)
>> If it includes the previous option, choose to pilot the Hispania, Bretonia, Liberty, Kusari, or Rheinland.

> [uBits before Freelancer started[/u
>> The colonization of Sirius
>> The early expansion of the Houses into their systems
>> The expansion into the Border Worlds
>> The invention of Trade Lanes and Jump Gates
>> Something I've always wanted to do - The 80-years War between Rheinland and the GMG, particularly the battle of the Yanagi Cloud!
>> Anything else I can't think of right now lol.

I know it sounds ambitious but there's a huge gap left in the middle of the two games that is begging to be filled, or even partially filled!

This sounds like a truely great idea. I agree that the gap does need to filled. However, how the heck are you going to fit 800+years of stuff into one mod?

Beep!

i'll take it step by step, starting with the flee from Sol, the early expansion of the colonies, etc., and release little add-ons as I go along!

I'd much rather have more SL war, what happened after SL ends. there's yrs of war left there!

Sounds like an interesting idea. Feel free to e-mail me.

I don't want to sound like a heretic or anything but I thought SL was way better than FL. In Fl once you finish the storyline the incentive to carry on playing just isn't really there, yea you have the ships and the weapons but after a while the missions get so repetitive. Sl had a much better storyline well, I couldn't wait to get out there and kick some coalition a##...l even managed 400+ kills a couple of times and when the Reliant goes down.......hell an even bigger incentive to kill every Coalition ship I could find. Microsoft should seriously consider bringing back the SL storyline..... heck FL2 could have the exiles return to SOL to fight the Coalition..... or at least a game or two which fill in the gap... I thought I won the war in SL...hell with 400+ kills you'd think you'd wiped out quite a lot of their fleet.....I was so annoyed to find out in FL's intro that all that hard work was for nothing.... just explanation saying after 100 years of war the aliiance had lost... 100 years in a long time.......you could fit in a couple of games there at least.

So I would like to ask all SL fans.....write to Microsoft at http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp and ask for a sequel to SL it deserves one. Who knows if enough of us send in a request they might just listen...

Ah. Maybe not. The accursed Freelancer control system would probably be retained!
Starlancer is only better than Freelancer in two respects - a conventional three-axis joystick control system and much more attractive ship designs (Starlancer ships aren't built from lego . . .)

I'd buy a Starlancer sequel but only if it had fixed guns and a joystick.

Ban REVERSE THRUST! Fly something other than a phoenix for a change!

I read somewhere that Conquest: Frontier Wars is also supposed to be related to SL and FL. I played the game, and nothing in it even suggests a connection. Also, the Solar System is still there in Conquest.
