Great News for UK Lancers

HMV have got the Xplosiv version of Starlancer for £4.99. It's part of their Buy 2 get 3rd Free Promotion. So if you get 2 Dearer games you would get Starlancer free, not bad hey

Thats a very good idea - I've never played SL and knowing this I'm gonna go and pick myself up a copy, I doubt that I'm alone in this...

@top-gun - to the unitiated, whats the difference between the Xplosiv version of Starlancer and any other version of starlancer?

Post Wed Oct 29, 2003 1:25 pm

Nothing, Xplovis is just the name of the Budget range. Well you don't get and Hand Copy of the Manual or the Quick Reference Card with the Xplovis release

is StarLancer worth the trip down to my local HMV though? Ive heard it isnt too good. I am a Freelancer fan and it will take something better than that to try and persuade me to sacrifice some of my precious hard-disk space.

Is Starlancer better than Freelancer? Depends. For me, Starlancer is infinitely better than Freelancer because you have proper, three axis controls (you really need a joystick) - it's not an arcade game. If you like sims you'll love it. If you think that Freelancer's poxy mouse control system is the greatest then you probably won't like Starlancer. That said, if you can't afford to lash a fiver out on what might be a lot of fun for you then you must be in dire financial straits!

Be nice if they would put out SL and FL as a package. I'm having trouble finding SL.

@cardamine - gonna make this quick because I don't want the thread to get locked for being off topic....no I just share a connection with the place. I went to uni there, and ended up staying for 10 years (Had quite a tasty little pad on Green Lane). I met all of my close friends there and we meet up 4 or 5 times a year in derby to get plastered. Gonna be there this weekend in fact! I'm just still shocked when I come onto a global forum and find someone lives somewhere that I know! (Sad I know)
