Starlancer wont install correctly.

Hi guys. I need some help. I cant get SL to install right. It wont copy the cd1 or cd2 hog files. Gets them 95% complete, then gives me a cant copy error, check my disk. Well, I have 38GB of free space, and no disk errors.

I even tried manually copying the files, but no joy there either. Gives me a cyclic redundancy error, whatever that is.

Here is my system:

P4 1.8Ghz
512 PC 2700 DDR RAM
120 GB HDD WD with 8MB cache
Radeon 9000 Pro 128 DDR
Onboard sound
WinXP Pro

I even tried it with my burner, and my DVD. No joy.
If anyone can help, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Look ye into the darkness...and ye shall find me there...a me that you have never known.

You got a scratched cd, I guess. Try returning them for another copy.

Thanks. But I did that, and I dont think thats it. its the exact same file on both cd's, giving me trouble. cd1.hog, and cd2.hog, but it runs if i dont do a complete install and only do typical and run game from the cd's

how long is Your CD-ROM has been used.. if more than 2 years than there would be problems because the motor isnt spinnning at very stabilize rate and that could easily make CRC checks much more dangerous... if that is true try lay off the cdrom for a couple of months.. i did that and it works fine again... dunno why thogh maybe it needs some timeout i guess...

argh.. im never gonna get paid.. goodbye a million credits..

You could try manually copying those particular files over. Rather than use the interface open up the cd with explorer etc. and then copy them.
Or if you have the room, copy the entire disk to hard-disk as is, and then run it from there.
Sometimes that will work best.

hope it helps

Thanks guys for the help. I will try those things. As for the Drive, the entire PC is only a year old, and all firmware has been updated.
