Requiem: A Total FL Conversion

I am creating a new post for our mod as we have had a slight name change.

Welcome to the new total conversion mod for Freelancer called:

Requiem: A Total FL Conversion

This mod is a total rebuild of the game Freelancer. All systems have been removed and all systems will be new and original. Some will be based on actual stars in the real universe, and others will based on your favorite sci-fi movies or shows.

All factions will be new. Some will be based on your favaorite sci-fi shows and movies, and others will be original.

All ships will be original as will all weapons and commodities. As we speak, our programmers are working auto connection program that will download any updated files prior to joining the server. This will allow us to have a total dynamic universe where bases can be destroyed and the market price of commodites can change. Ownership of a system or base can also change. This will make an excellent RP server as there will be many ways to gain power for your faction (clan).

All planets will be unique and original as will bases.

Also, all ships will be created by our ship wright(s). Here is an example of what some of them look like:

An update. We now have 45 systems complete and only about 100 to go. We have begin work on several new ships designs and have gotten several more factiosn into the game. Some based on Sci-fi shows and movies, and some custom factions.

We still are working out the details on how all the sci-fi factions will interact and such. We also have a number of commodities that will be put into game.

It has been decided that Requiem: A Freelancer Total Conversion will start off small with a limited number of factions and systems. As we have integrated a number of custom factions along with a number of Sci-Fi species and races, we will be allowing a clan who wishes to take over a faction the chance to create it's own history and story. This will allow players to re-write a Sci-Fi races' story.

This also means, that when you start, you will be limited to where you can go and find. It will take time to locate new areas of space and to interact with other races and factions. This will depend on your clan or factions RP.

We are about ready to release our pre-alpha testing version for our mod team to test. During this test, we will also begin testing of our dynamic universe program. This program will allow us to have the universe around the players change on a daily basis based upon the activities of the server and forum.

Is there going to be an OpenSP version of this mod? I can rarely play online...

At the moment, it is being built for Multiplay use only as the universe will be developing based on online events and forum RP. So, the open SP side would really not work well. We have been putting all of our resources on the multiplayer side for now. We may at some point work on a openSP version, but that wil be a low priority.

I should also mention that our mod is being designed to avoid player wipes at all costs. All system will exist in game along with any and all jumpholes or jumpagtes. They will not all be accessible at first and will ony become accessible when and if a faction RP's the discovery of one, a field is mined anough to uncover one, or a random event allows one to emerge.

This mod wil provide factions a chance to get started before having to deal with diplomatic relation with other factions in game as they will start in there won little area of space and will need to explore. Thsi will also provide your faction a chanc to establish it's storyline and history a little before any of interaction begins as well.

Alpha phase testing has now begun on our mod. We have also had a great showing on our site with people showing interest in the mod and already wanting to move there clans once the mod is released.

So please, keep an eye on the site for updates as more news will be posted there as well as screen shots and such.

We're trying to build a HUGE community around Requiem; the community is what will really run, and move the game forward. So feel free to stop by and chat with us!

We also have an IRC channel setup on DALnet, #RequiemMOD. I've been staying in there, idling while I'm at work, but anyone is welcome to join in. In fact, we're hoping people WILL join the IRC channel, and the forums, and we hope that you will all start chatting and getting to know the other people around the community. This way, when the game is released, we'll already have a strong community surrounding Requiem!


So come check us out! Our Beta Testing will be Public, so we'll be relying on the community to help us find any bugs in the MOD.

Please, we area ALWAYS accepting player submitted ideas such as ship ideas, weapon ideas, or even just general game ideas. So stop by and post those too!

Alpha testing is underway. Also, we have added several new members to the mod team. We have texturers, modelers, writers, and many more. We also have a growing community which has been supplying us with some great ideas as this is the basis for our mod.

We have been very busy with ship creation and have competed the beginning story of Requiem.

The community has grown strong already and we have been receiveing some excellent ideas that will be implemented as we move forward. We already have 2 clans that are moving to our mod and server.
