Freelancer: Exodus (Warning: Large images)

Freelancer: Exodus

Freelancer: Exodus (Exo) will be an unofficial expansion for Freelancer.
It will, among many things, feature a player driven universe with which you can interact and player-corporation owned stations all over the new universe, named Cerberus sector.

But we will not only create new features for the game. Among this, every ship, weapon, faction, station, solar system and the whole universe map, will be new. Nothing old will be left in the game. Except for the memories of the old Sirius sector.

Would you like to join this modification for Freelancer, please send us an email to [email protected] or [email protected].

Features for the game:

Sector features

- Circa 40 new systems, designed from scratch.
- A redrawn map for the universe.
- The ability to choose among joining five expanding empires, or go your own way.
- Player teamwork is the key. Work together to get through the sector.

System features

- Reworked solar systems
- Trade Lanes have been removed in the major part of the game. Use the engines.
- The systems have expanded, there’s now much more to risk when you travel alone.
- Planets, aren’t they too small? All planets are now made huge.
- Stations will play a major role, since the most planets aren’t even dockable.

Station features

- Buy stations and then upgrade them.
- Make profit out of your stations. A mining station can make astronomic profits if you know how to.
- Sell ships aboard your station to make even more money.
- More profit can be made. Commodites, bars, and weapon dealers all makes some extra credits for the station owner.

Player features

- Player driven universe. Interact with the politics, either by giving a helping hand or making raids on your enemies property.
- Start a corporation, and begin to produce your own ships, custom made or mass-produced.

Other features

- An online Internet site with the latest politic news, updates on various new corporations and forums where you can discuss the most recent ingame news.
- The stations you own will be registered into your personal “Neural Net” on the website. Here you can keep track of the corporations you are a member or leader of, your stations and more.

Are there any other features you see fit? Give us a shot at the emails written above the features list. Thanks.

Updates and stuff:

Concept art:

Yes, we got our first piece of concept art featuring a Zioxid/Smoker fighter pilot. These guys smoke Zioxid and are thus nicknamed after the drug they smoke.

Um... how is this going to be implemented... ? Just curious... because the last time I checked, all of this was impossible- I don't think there's even a way to get a count of what's been bought/sold through the server without using a memory tool and reading whatever registers are being used for that purpose...

At any rate, if you can accomplish those goals, we'll all be very happy

@Argh:

- Buy stations and then upgrade them.

I guess many people want to know.
First of all, you must own an active account on our homepage, which isn't online yet so don't ask for any URLs.
Then you simply go to a "Station Buying" menu, and fill in some forms. This will be the data for your base. You will select sort of station, loacation and faction-friendlyness, among others. Press submit.
Now we will control location, that you have the credits needed. If you have, you will receive an email confirming this; if not you will get an email saying what is not right, maybe there is a base at the location, there may not be enough money in your viritual neural net account.

If everything is right, a station with your preferences is in the game, on the map and in our website account. You can now upgrade it using a similar method.

- Make profit out of your stations. A mining station can make astronomic profits if you know how to.

If you have a station with the ability "Mining", then you can earn up to eight hundred thousand credits per update/patch.
The preference is that the station have the ability "Mining" online and that it's at least three kilometres from a asteroid/debris field.

- Sell ships aboard your station to make even more money.

Selling ships is easy. Just go to the "Upgrade" menu in your website account, and then upgrade your station with a ship dealer.
You can now choose among every ship in the game to be sold at the ship locations of your base, but this comes at a cost. To sell the Starflier, for example, you need at least one and a half million credits to spare, and a place for the ship. But this is easily earned back.

You get a basic income of 10 % every time we have an update. Use the "Ship" Menu you should have on the website account, to increase this income with at a maximum of 25 % per update. This costs a small fee, though.

- More profit can be made. Commodites, bars, and weapon dealers all makes some extra credits for the station owner.

Apart from the ship income, why not upgrade with the three other locations available on a station. You get 6000 extra credits for every such upgrade every update/patch.

---

Easy, wasn't it ? There will be a tutorial explaining this better on the website.

(Everything above MAY and CAN change, when we update or change our website.)

And how will you upgrade the mod to every player? As each time a new base is made, EVERY player + the server has to update the mod. This needs every player to stop the game, to the server to stop.

How will you manage all of this?
And if the server is popular, how will you take care of the numerous demands? Will you need to take some personnal 24/7?

Oh btw, I am doing something similar and I am already somehow advanced. I may help you and vice-versa if you want

@Friendly: I can't answer every one of your questions right now since im low on time but:

The station handling is quite simple. If 3 people register a new base in their own location this month, they will all show up in the update during the end of the month, hence, everyone will have to update their game every month, not a per station basis.

*Updated*

Managing will be done with a database built in MySQL by me, and a large member network where every account holds the information about a certain player or corporations stations and upgrades.
I will take care of the demands; would it get so popular i can't handle it i'll to make the network cooperate with the server to automaticly draw the credits and place the stations.
No, i won't hire someone. I got myself, right?

Thanks for taking all those problems up, since we then can solve them now, not when the mod is finished

This sounds very good. Even though I'm a bit involved with TOW, I will definately play this.

Post Sat Jan 01, 2005 9:23 am

*Update*

We received an email from someone capable of doing systems and factions, all we need now is a ship modeller and a ship texturer, but the more of them the better!

Direct emails to [email protected] or [email protected].

Thanks

That's great!

I can't take any models at the time, but I've certainly seen the images, and it looks great

So, as I've said to many others:

Welcome aboard.

I'll send you a email with the specifics when i have time, some hours though. Thanks for the help

Post Sun Jan 02, 2005 5:30 pm

Also (Dont know if Im letting the cat outa the bag, just a notice) on this mod you there might be a system named Omicron Zeta. And this system might have a HUGE junkyard full of ancient Don'Kavosh battleships.

That is all I will say. Orillion and me have talked about it some and I dont know if hes still going to do this. But if he is...I will keep the rest under wraps as to not give any thing else away

Post Sun Jan 02, 2005 6:29 pm

im not sure if it will be what you want, but i may have a mesh you might be interested in....

Post Sun Jan 02, 2005 9:56 pm

yeah ill help out - ive sent you an email :p good to be working with you again Spaz

Post Mon Jan 03, 2005 6:02 am

@SpAz: Well, im not really sure if it's going to be Dom Kavosh wrecks, im more thinking of a new culture/race's leftover, from a mothership the size of Cerberus

@Fallen_Angel: As i said, i can't take any meshes but if you could take a picture and send to [email protected] that would be great

@Phoenix: I have some factions in mind that i'd like to see in the game, sending you an email in some minutes from now.
