Good & Bad News: X-Lancer and Galapagus Mod (Oppinion ne

Well, let's start with the sad news first (doh).

X-Lancer - A totally new universe has been stopped. Why? Not enough people, too much effort, etc...

The good news:

I'm thinking of resuming work on the Galapagus Mod (That wóuld me V5).

Well, I know not alot of people know what either one of 'em is, but:

Should I merge the old X-Lancer stuff into the new Galapagus stuff?

Please tell me.

This is what I'm planning for Galapagus V5 (If I decide to resume it):

- Some new systems (The old Ringworld would be included too)
- Commodities
- Maybe more new factions, seeying how it goes...
- New ships; Unpilotable + pilotable
- Old starwars ships maybe removed
- Quests (wee, quests will get your brains running abit)
- Other stuff, like balanced systems; Not too sure about it...

Well? Should I:

- Resume the mod?
- Merge it with X-Lancer? (Not really too sure about it)

And:

- Do you like the new ideas?

Please give me your oppinions

Kendo - good luck, but one point about quests.......which is why I ditched them.....its called datastorm. They can find everything without doing anything.

bummer chips, I had been hoping you would. true, datastorm gives away locations, but if a quest could be set up like, rumor on the message boards-find a piece(equip/commodity just for this/whatever) w/ a rumor attached/nearby, leading to another piece which requires the first piece to attain, and so on and so forth. they might know where the parts are but the rumors could be dodgy, and you would still have to GO and get them.
providing, of course, that this can be done w/ modding and not needing .exe access.
I say go for the quest.
i liked galapagus, it just needed finishing, a little planing, people in bars/missions/factions etc. integration w/ what already exist. and perhaps w/ other mods.

@Shawn - the rumours are no probs - its putting the decent stuff on wrecks to make it worthwhile. That is a hassle, cause then they can use datastorm and find the wrecks. Furthermore - they can click on it to find out what it holds......at which point they can find where you have good stuff for them to loot. They would never do the puzzle....some might, but the hassle compared to the rewards (especially in MP) would be intolerably massive

@Shawn; Yes, that was one of the things that I wanted to do first. I am making new ships/getting some ships made by others and putting them into the mod and the factions will fly 'em...

Kendo, go for it!

And to the story telling mods: check the Pinball. It has it's own story and datastorm will not help much . It also has some technical ideas you may be interested in. And to adding X-Lancer to the Galapagus - why not? Why waste already created stuff?
As usuall, have fun with modding
