MOD: The Corporation War

Hello!
not only is this my first post on lancers, but its also my first mod. I have been working on the background for quite a while, and now that i've finally learnt how to add in factions, i've started to actually make the mod! sp heres a little run down on what the mod is, what it'll add etc etc:

Background:
It has Been 75yrs since the Nomad Incident. Trent, the mand hailed as a Hero has passed away. You, his son, are living in a time of further turmoil. With the ending of the Nomad incident, new opportunities arose for the people of the Sirius sector. Since the beginning of the colonisation of the Sirius secotr, there have existed Corporations. These Corporations often grew in size and power as to be able to actually be a threat to the Nations of the Sirius sector. After the nomad incident, some individuals in the border worlds saw the advantages of joing, or even creating these Corporations. Over the next 20 yrs, numerous Companies grew to challenge the already leading manufacturers. Companies such as Ageira and Samura Industries soon saw these companies rising to positions which made them almost powerful enough to directly challenge them. With the support of the Border worlds, and many criminal factions, these companies began a process of 'eliminating' the larger corporatios.

The Almari Corporation, growing in the independant systems around Liberty space challeneged the Three Big Liberty companies to control of the Liberty markets. With its less then legal background, Almari was able to slowly push these Corporations out, whilst paying numerous government officals tyrn a blind eye to the way it was being done. Eventually, only Ageira was left, Interspace Commerce had shifted into Rhineladn space, whilst Universal Shipping had suffered a series of pirate raids and had fallen into debt and its assest had ben liquidated, and mostly purchased by Almari. Ageira decided to respond to Almaris growing operation in the only way it knew how, in a short moment of weakness caused by a sharp drop in Almari stock, Ageira pounced, ad attempted a Takeover. Almari responded hostily, attacking Ageira ships in puble space. With Ageira taking heavy losses to its shipping ability, it begun to suffer the same fate as Universal Shipping. Before Almari could take advantage of the situation however, A rival company that had plasted the companies in Bretonia space, bought Ageira remaining holdings in Liberty space. The companies went under the name of Raad Shipping. As further conflicts continued across Sirius, the Gpvernments of each nation begun to place limits on what corporations could and could not od in thier space. After 40yrs since to Nomad incident, Corporations where outlawed in Kusari unless owned by the state, in Bretonia, the Corporations where held back by military intervension in their affairs, whilst in Liberty, any Corporations operating had their ships checked at evry tradelane.

The actions of the Governments led the Corporations to look to new sources of revenue, the border worlds. A hostile and violent area, the people of the Border worlds basically waged open war on the enroaching Corporations. the best Corporations saw the folly in continuing to find new markets in the Sirius sector without new products. The largest Corporations, such as Almari Corporation, Raad Shipping and Dulchin Enterprise decided to do what had not being done for over 800 yrs, they sent ships out to colonise worlds outside the Sirius Sector.

With these new colonies came new wealth, with new commodities being sent back to the Sirius Sectors Nation States. But with these new colonies came not only wealth, but jealousy. With various Corporations taking the closest systems, smaller ones where forced further away from Sirius. seeing an injustice being done to them, the began what is now known as the Corporation War. It has being waging for almost 7yrs now. The Area of the greatest importance is to the 'West' pf the Sirius sector, where Almari competes with rival companies for control of the outlying systems.


What the mod involves:
-Many New systems
-New Factions (mostly Corporations and Criminals) such as:
Almari Corporation: Your Starting faction
Almari Security: Amlari's answer to organisations like Raad Raiders
Raad Shipping: Your starting enemy
Raad Raiders: the semi-legal arm of Raad Sipping, attack the AC
-eventually new Base Models (dont know how to do this.....yet...)
-eventually a storyline (but i will release the systems by themselves earlier)
-mabye new ships, havent decided yet
- ( i am unsure if this is possible, but i would like to also add in new things like recored docking speeches e.g. "freelancer 1-0 you are cleared to land on planet whatever"
-New bloody music

***UPDATE 1***
hello again!

this is my first 'update' (sounds kinda corny...)
anyways, i encountered a few problems, but, with persistance, i have over come them!
anyways, heres what i've done so far
- created every faction, list further down.
- made two Corporation and a few independant factions systems, thats a total of 24 systems.
- added in New nes, rumors and Random missions to the new sysems and the old systems still in the mod.

The Almari Corporation:
Almari Corporation - Company
Almari Security - Police
Almari Aerospace Division - Armed Forces

Raad Shipping:
Raad Shipping - Company
Raad Raiders
Raad Navy - Armed Forces

Dulchin Corporation:
Dulchin Enterprise - Company
Dulchin Insurance - Police

Ryde District:
Ryde Regulars - Police
Ryde Supply and Transport - Company

Frontier Exploration:
Frontier Exploration - Company
Frontier Recon - Police/Armed Forces

UPC:
United Planets Corporation - Company/Armed Forces

Independants:
Independant Miners Guild - Company
Bounty Hiunters Guild - themselves
Mercanary Co-alition - Rival to BHG
1st Dreyern Strikers - Mercanary/pirates

Houses:
Bretonian Armed Forces

still a few more to come.
anyways, thats it for the moment.
now off to work on the new music

Well worldedit, let me be the first to welcome you to The Lancer Reactor

I must say that´s an impressive first post. Great to see your ambition and enthusiasm. You´ve come up with a great and original background story and so I commend you on that alone. I can´t wait to see how things will progress and to see what you´re capable of. Please promise us to keep us updated, as I´d love to see this Mod finalished (as do many others I´m sure).

If you have any questions at all or in need of any help, don´t hesitate to ask here in the editing forums, because we have plenty of really experienced modders hanging around that can give you some advice. There are many helpful things posted already of course, so feel free to look for it in the editing forums if you like.

For now I wish you good luck and I salute you.

i am no longer a n00b at modding! I have d/ld every tutorial there is on the internet, and have them neatly sorted out in a folder! I can do you commodities, new weapons, integrating new ships, integrating new sounds (inc. music), making new systems and bases, and also a little bit on modelling!

ok, its being a while, and due to RL issues etc i had to stop development of the mod, but, now that i'm back on track, here is finially an Update:

Firstly i have peiced together a BASIC website (aint got much on it atm) located at http://thecorporationwar.vze.com

all information is there on what has being done so far.

on another note, in about a weeks time (give or take a day or two) i will send in the First set of systems, namely those belonging to Almari, as well as a few other systems to explore. These systems will be complete with Factions, News, Random missions, NPC's in bars etc. The most important feature of this will actually be in the New York system, which will feature a nice suprise in the form of a Station (andi cant recall any mod with a larger Station in it, it is absolutey HUGE)

so yeah, once i've posted it, you can comment.

@Zerowen: i did include a few 'Black ops' groups, the Almari one is........suprising to say the least, with a very harsh attitude, but you will have to wait and see to get any more details.
