Project: Total WAR

Okay the here's the idea it is a multy-player mod. All the houses are at war with each other when a new player starts they must select the house
1: liberty A liberty Gunship has been added looks like the cobra from Battle fleet gothic.
2: Bretonia
3:Kusari
4:Rheinland
5: independent/Pirate
The Player can only buy in house ships. As rank increases you can get access to new weapons and new ships. Light fighter-> heavy Fight-> gunship->cruiser->battleship. Pirate house does not get the same ranking they only get fighters. But they can by all third parties fight i.e. bounty hunters, and rouge ships, instead of only military craft. They can buy house weapons and ships if they are in good standing with the house capital ships and all.
I am working on a way for houses to take systems from other revivals houses.
If any one would like to help on this mod just e-mail me at [email protected]. (Note that is the # zero not an o)
All ships weapon levels would be changed so the are equal i.e. Liberty Patriot and Rhineland banshee would have weapon hard points to level 5 as well as comparative armour levels. then the next ship set would go up in rank.
The Game is based around strong team play. You can not take a system with one battle ship. It would take more like 2 battle ships 4 cursers 6 gunboats and 10 fighters all controlled by human players. Hopefully you will get massive space battles with massive ships. I might add in new capital ships if I find some modders cap ships that I like. Just give me some feed back on the idea and let me know if it sounds like a good idea.

Its all about the 8-Ball

I have no idea how you are going to code that, but goodluck if you can....
some of your ideas wont be possible without source code

Well - you cannot do that without some major modding, including constant updates. You can easily change systems allegiances by just changing the factiosn in that system - but that will require constant updates, and for players to dl and install those updates AS SOON AS THEY COME OUT. If they don't then your servers will crash. As the game is set, you cannot have them only with one faction friendly value UNLESS they choose their own faction first. That way you could modify the ini files so that factions empathy won't increase/decrease depending on whom you kill. You will remain Navy forever, or lib rogue forever. I have no idea though if that would work on servers - i don't run one.

For your other parts, to start off as this - you would need a server joining session where all the rheinlanders join at once - as that is server side and not client (on current FL).

Duriel is more than correct - good luck, you are ambitious!

A mod much like this is being made at www.ioncross.com

Yeah, and there's another out there somewhere else too, popular idea. Our will be the best though Entropy, we have JoeBoomz writing up some truely wicked server-side software for it making all of this very possible even without the game's source code. Still a few limitations with internal game mechanics, but a little creativity goes a long way

Just from reading his post though I can see a lot of differences in our ideas, so it's just more variety for the players to choose from, I'm sure that not everyone is going to like our version and his version may be just what they're looking for. Plus, our mod will run only on the Ion Cross server and the server side software will not be released ( Joe says it's sloppy and he'd be embarrased ) so if he develops a mod that can be run on other servers, there's another difference.

Go for it, it's a lot of work and you'll need to put together a decent team to do it but the end result should definately be worth it.
