Milkshape 3D 1.7.0 beta released!

MilkShape 3D 1.7.0 Beta Released!

This is a beta release, because quite a lot of things have changed internally and it is not tested 100% yet. So the final version may change a little bit. Some new 3rd party plugins might be added to the final release.

This release is especially interesting for Unreal Tournament, Serious Sam and Half-Life.

Here is what's new:


Serious Sam SKA supports now meshes, skeletons and animation.
Unreal/UT PSK/PSA support independed of the game.
rewrote Half-Life SMD support.
remove FreeImage and use DevIL now for image file formats.
support for 32-bit texture with alpha channel.
*.rgb, *.dds texture are now supported.
texture download is now 6 times faster.
background images can be any images.
max. vertex count has been increased to 65534.
max. triangle count has been increased to 65534.
max. group count has been increased to 255.
increased undo level to 50.
joints without children can be rotated now.
increased rendering speed.
selected triangles are now shown in 3D too.

Yep, I got it but the import and export for 3ds and lwo files doen't work yet.

Question,

Will the new version allow the cmp exporter plugin?

Oh....And if we already own Milkshape 1.66a, will we have to pay for an upgrade?

Im not sure about that CMP stuff, but the new version what i did is milkshape automatically upgrades without cost.

It has some interesting features, like the .dds support and the larger import file size, which will allow the use of more complicated structures and the ability to import small to medium max files..........., but if you cannot export to .cmp file format using the plugin - then ........................?

Can anyone answer this?

Well it exports cmp file as long as the import plugin is not installed.

Have to check if ship works in Freelancer after I make new mat file, etc.
Will report back later.
