''Elite'' Ship Pack (Released)

TACHYON FANS - If you are here looking for the screenies of the Archangel find it here. I ballzed up the link in the downloads bit... too much late night posting

UPDATE : Ship pack complete, check out the downloads page

I am going to release an 'Elite' ship pack for FL. This will eventually contain all the original elite ships (Cobra MkI + MkIII, Adder, Asp, Boa, Krait, Sidewinder, Viper, Fer-de-lance etc) and probably a few from elite 2 aswell. So as not to flood the TLR homepage with 'fisher-price' ship models () i will host the individual ships myself until the pack is released.

UPDATE : Get the complete pack here from TLR downloads.

If anyone really wants any of the individual ships mail me.

thats about time !
i mean hey a mod with 2 functions *giggels*, thats for the "old" people around here one nice alternative to the 124451 starwars-ship and for the "young ones"
a whole new ship-pack never-seen before {i guesss}

i know this sounds dumb but please be original with the ships, yeah ?
i would hate to see something like the M-Falcon with 6 guns
{please no Thargoid with 25 minethrowers as replacement for his little ones}

i think {with the whole modding in mind} its better to do it not than to do it miserabel}

I hear what you're saying about sticking to the original designs but (theres always a but isnt there?) there is no sense in being too strict.

For example any of the elite ships should be limited to one gun (IIRC) but in FL that would be ridiculous. The cobra was a formidable opponent in elite but even with a nomad gun fights would be tediously long. I also fully expect anyone that uses these ships to have them for NPC's rather than flying them themselves. Maybe the cobra is flyable but i think they are much better used as NPC ships. Having said that i suppose an NPC with one big gun and a few missiles early on might be o.k. Maybe i'll change the cobra... I am using an updated one at the mo, more like the one version in Rebalance. I got a bit excited and made it far too 'uber'. Do you think 3 guns would be acceptable?

The krait has 3 weapon mounts which i would envision having 2 missile launches and a gun for NPCs. This would be strictly in keeping with the original cause they always fired 2 missiles then started shooting.

I have finished the ferdelance now and just need to do the infocards and make a few decent textures, then i will stick that up. At the moment it has 6 guns.... Its slow with 100ish cargo hold and can take 2 class 5 guns and 4 class 7 turrets. Shield is class 7. I might remove 2 of the guns and take the shield down to a 5 and the guns/turrets to 4/6.

EDIT - Here is a link to a sketchy version of the ferdelance. It is too big, the infocards arent done and i need to sort out the camera angles and LOD. It comes with the original texture. It costs about 20k at the mo, obviously i will change that too. Feel free to try it out and say what you reckon needs changed.

I am more than open to suggestions/demands for ship specs as i always have trouble deciding what to put on stuff.

Obviously the whole thing is on hold till i finish reading the harry potter book I'm thinking 20 hours.

I have just uploaded the pack. It only contains 5 ships - Cobra MkIII, Krait, Ferdelance, Thargon and Thargoid warship. Basically i am fed up doing them I dont see much point doing the rest, these 5 cover all 4 ship classes and i think adding more would be pointless. I am off to work on ships with polygon numbers in double figures

The only bug i know of is at Buffalo shipdealer - when you click on the thargoid warship it shows you the thargon. It gives you the stats and description of the warship, but the graphic is the thargon. However when you buy it you get the warship, model texture and hardpoints. At first i thought this was some sort of name problem (the thargon's nick was 'thargon' and the warship's was 'thargoidwarship') with only the first X letters of names being significant. However i have changed all the nicks and filenames for both of them to no avail. Both work fine on their own. If anyone can help me with this that would be great.

The thargoid warship link was broken, i have fixed it. I am having problems with emailing TLR the ship pack so for the time being i will host it myself. It has all the above ships plus the Thargon and Ferdelance.

On the Arcangel how many weapon mounts are there?

The Pegasus would have 2 Medium, 1 Heavy, 2 missles and 1 special.

The Posiden would have 2 Medium, 2 Heavy, 2 missles and 1 special.

The Orion would have 4 Heavy, 2 missles and 1 special.

The Arcangel would have 4 Heavy, 3 missles and 1 special.

The Phoenix would have 6 Heavy, 4 missles and 1 special.

Heavy's = class 7-10
Medium's = class 4-6/7
Light's = class 1-3/4

How about making the special mounts in to turrets?

Yo redeye can you please make the Bora Warhammer from Tachyon the Fringe as well please?

There isn't a problem that can't be fixed without the correct amount of explosives.
