New mod ''hiring''

Ok, So I have an Idea for a new mod and i would like to pick up a few people for some help. Lemme give ya the rundown.

Everyone wants to make twinked weapons, Uber ships, crazy missiles, etc...

I don't necessarily agree with this approach. I think the engine is pretty good as is. It does not need the massive and sudden changes everyone seems to want to put on it. I have some ideas about how to make the game more team (read company) oriented. I want players to be able to really claim a piece of space. do some business, get into some turf wars, and generally just 0wn the hell out of those not affiliated with thier side.

I want to enhance the trading system a bit and also add ships to help this out. No longer stuck with tiny trade ships, teams could get a real freighter, snag some fighter escort and run some blockades! Capital ships would become available (although expensive). With the tastiest routes spanning areas different teams would claim, should make for some good action.

I've got an idea for a Strike Carrier teams could use. It'd be slow on standard drives, but have a fast cruise drive. By itself, not much of a contender, but when you can load 4-6 fighters and couple that with fast cruise engines, warfare could change drastically.

The existing encounter sysytem could be modified to give the galaxy more 'living' feel. Several factions would be replaced by player run factions. Special stations and the like could change faction control in systems. Initially populated by player faction AI ships, a well planned strike could change the spawns, and the systems would erupt into combat as the new faction spawns take over.

Really, any feedback would be great. I'm really hoping to create a community oriented Mod and Server.

Does anyone know what this button does?

Sounds like a great idea, will the engine allow it though? If you need any help just shout, im learning how to do encounters at the moment and having some fun with a server that me and a few mates run (online) so if u need any help in that area, just shout

Similar idea to my Hostile Universe which im developing slowly. Stage 1 has just been released.

Because its the same, i'll offer some advice.

Avoid large ships, until mooring and docking is fixed for all stations they simply mean trouble.

I agree with your assessment almost completely though, im working in that direction my self (mostly).

I started building a similar Mod, but without carriers.
Every Shipclass has its own worth, only if everyone plays together you can make "real" profit

I'm making progress, but there's still much to do
