we hope to releas the first beta at 30 of april
and it will be massive we changed a lot of things making the game a lot longer, some new sp mission etc,etc
a payment to a trade lane, hmm sounds good. i thing of inceasing the speed to 2000 and making a small payment per tradelane buil thingi ( there are 12 from manhattan to fort bush) and each cost (lets say0 10 in new york and in borderworlds it will cost some more. i have to discuss that. saturday we are having a lan and i will tell them about it

wouldnt it be really hard to enable us to buy the base defenses and the base itself? itll require a Tychoon style game engine to work, if u can get freelancer engine to work with it, that must rock

I think that these ships will be part of mod.

We are currently having a lan with 15 of the dutch members of game"x"
i was beaten in the 15 minut whit generals so i took the time to answer a few questions
we added 20 bases in some debris fields/ badlands look alike area's and we placed existing bases there so don't expect new ones. the bases are suronded by mines so u can't come close
u fly to manhattan or new londen,new berlin,new tokyo where u can buy the 5 nearest stations.this hapens in the ship dealer menu, no ships are selt on these planets, when u buy a station the mines are deleteled. there is a new fraction in the fraction menu (F8) with the name of the player. it will be neutral to everbody in the begining and that is everthing we done so far.we still have to figur out how to place mines,weapons platfor'ms etc
next question :we will post screen shots on our website as soon as it's online
next question :this mod is sp and mp
next question : i will post the script's for custom misions and the ships dealer as soon as i'm home that will take 2 more day's

some suggestions
With the bases that are able to be purchased (fantastic addition btw)
1. Ability to sell commities/weapons etc: but they have to be bought from exsiting traders/markets and transported to the base. If no one brings it to the base then it can't be sold.
2. The bases could require you to purchase an energy commodity ie: water and/or uranium etc: to power the base these commodities may be mined or purchased thru out the systems and transported back to the base.
3. I presume that these bases will be dockable
4.food stuffs so pple on the base can eat , the base could be manned by just robots that would lessen the food requirments but then you would need spare parts to fix the robots
5. alchohol so the bar has something to drink if no alcohol then no one visits the bar
6. have npc ships that can help defend your base
7. have npc ships that can escort you if you request it (maybe done by clicking on them and hitting the formation key)
Mining make it a big money earner
Mining is way under done in the current game if we could buy and operate the huge mining ships and rip up asteroids collect gasses then we can sell them on the open market. make it viable could possibly be the best money earner in the game.
The cargo space in fighters is to large, fighters are made for fighting not transporting goods around the systems. ie: 10
Have much larger cargo space on freighter's minimum 1000 and make them stronger so 1 or 2 fighters can't take em out so easily ,(in the game now it takes 3 secs to kill a cargo train) give them great defence and only a token offence capability.
With a fluctuatuing market as you intend to create , A trader player could just cruise around the system popping into every port see what the prices are then buy or sell if the price is right. My thoughts on being a trader is having 10,000 space for cargo on the freighters and just travelling looking for the best deals.
I dont know if these suggestions follow the game play your team has in mind either way i'm looking forward to the first release.

i found the time to answer some of your questions
i think that it's not nececary to buy products then transport them to your base
to sell them because at one time food is expesive so people sell food at your station and later it's cheap so it's bought at your station. that is the nr. 1 law of trading ( it's always possible so make a profit)
second i think that bases need a playment every 24 hour
if there would be a fl server doing 24/7 with our mod than every day a fraction must pay and it's members lets say 100 must pay 1/100 of the payment ( like a contribution )
the bases are a copy's of exiting bases like Xenos base in huston(big lumb of roch) junkers bases, blood dragon,molly's atc bases so they will be dockable
we think of hiring npc wich fly around your base
we also think of hiring other player to do trade runs with other player's
if a player folow's a other player to lets say texas he gets 10.000
the player must stay in a radius of 2 k from the other and can stay out of it for max 1 minute( for jumping in a jumpgate etc.) the trader pay's first ( we he want's to post the mision) and the protector get's his money when he come's to the destination ( trader can select the price) if the protector doesn't proctect the money it transferd back
be checking you in a few hours again
does some one have a idea for the price's of a station and hiring new npc
is there a server that would run this mod 24/7
