Crossfire

So yeah is there any way to find out where the new systems and fun stuff is in Crossfire without searching for new jumpholes for 7 hours?

If you want to spoil all of the mod-maker's hard work, search the download section for Freelancer Datastorm. its a program that analyzes FL and draws a full nav-map for you. Many mod-makers are now building their mods to not support datastorm. The exploration is worth it. The writer of crossfire, OP, does great work that is most enjoyable. My advice is, find it yourself and don't spoil it, but if you want to take the easy way out, that's your choice...

Well you see, the way I figure it is, if people want to use a map, let them. Why deny or turn away people that want to? Let as many people enjoy ur mod as you can, in any way they want. Personally I love Freelancer but I don't want to spend all day combing every system.

The problem is I already have DataStorm and it always gets stuck evaluating the mod at 8%, so I'm thinking, this mod is storm-proof. I read that an earler Crossfire version had some systems Storm-proof, maybe this one has all. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

datastorm is getting blocked by CF

the whole idea behind FL was to explore and fight...
i dont like to see hundreds of players just taking the mod to find all the stuff just to see that they loose interest because they have found everything with the map after a few days
so if you want a map... create one

I can understand that, but I also think "the idea" behind America was a place for everybody to be free, and yet the native americans were opressed and we usually tend to look negatively upon any outsiders. "The idea" isn't alwyas what it turns out to be, either universaly or for only a few. For me, as I've said, some exploring is fun but I don't generally spend an extra 15 minutes cruising out to the corner nebula with a 80:1 chance of finding anything.

Oh well, so there is a Sector map on the Crossfire forum thing but no system maps. I doubt I'll ever comb each system but ur saying people can post home made system maps? Great

well America... Crossfire is not an american production
and america isnt what it meant to be once

Well maybe it was a poor metaphore but I hope the point still stands

I'd actually use Freelancer Exporler,
Freelancer Database takes woefully long to loadup...

FLE works as well, might take a while to find stuff...but i really must hasten to add that it should be used as a last resort.

and btw, Op...it's the players on the servers that make people stay, not just how good the mod is

Does Crossfire play single player, if so what mod do I download for it? I've read a bunch of the stuff on Crossfire but now I'm confused.

you can play it in normal singleplayer and opensp
you can download the latest version (1.62) from LR
