24/7 Servers?

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

24/7 Servers?

I know i have posted a topic about this before. But how do you keep a server running 24/7. If you need to upload to a host, could anybody please tell me a free one?

Thanks and hope you understood my question,
Dudeofthed.

But you see. I do that too sometimes but i have problems connecting to my own server. I click on LAN and my own server does not appear on the list. I then go back to the main menu and click on multiplayer then internet. I search for my server and i can find it without it saying LAN. It says "LAN = NO".

I do not know what is wrong, but i would like some server experts to help me.
I have read nearly every possible guide on LancersReactor on how to setup a server. But i cannot understand/do any of tose things.

Thanks,
Dudeofthed.

I've had the same problem with my older computer. I think it has something to do with my network card.
anyway all I do to get it on lan is direct connect.
I created a text file with this in it
freelancer.exe -s192.168.2.110:2302
and renamed it to freelncer.bat, then put it in the folder with freelancer.
All you need to do is change 192.169.2.119 to the ip of your server and it should show up in the LAN menu.

I've tried the above to connect to a server I have running on my computer and it still doesn't work. The console gets to "Sending game information to server" and stops, and doesn't send anything. Help would be most appreciated.

Just wondering if...

Does your computer have a network card installed in one of the slots on the motherboard ? and some motherboards have a network adapter built into the motherboard.

If you want to play Multiplayer on your computer you have to have a network card/adapter, otherwise it don't work...

If you don't know if you have a network card installed or don't know what is installed on the motherboard - click on start, Control Panel - double click on, System - click on the Hardware tab in the system properties screen and then click on Divice Manager - your network card will show up in, Network adapters if you have a network card/adapter installed.

If you find that you don't have a network card/adapter you have to install one.
They are about $20 at your local computer store.
