Ok - I''m lost

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Ok - I''m lost

Hey guys...

I'm looking at running a dedicated server in the future and I was wondering about what add-ons etc to use, theres IFSO, and FLStat, and a bunch of others, whats the lowdown?

What should I use...

It really depends on what you want and what you're comfortable with.

For basic management of the server, use IFSOmkV.1- it keeps FLServer running and can be set to restart the server on a scheduled basis. It also allows you to manage players.

For remote control of the server, there are three options, either FLAdmin (runs as a telnet server), FLServerGuard/FLClient (proprietary connection), or a PC remote control option such as VNC and its relatives.

Once you've established yourself to Eagle's satisfaction, you will want to look into getting access to his program- FL Anti-Cheat (FLAC).

FLHook and FLShell are a couple new entries to this arena, and allow some management of the server from in-game, but I haven't really looked into either so I can't give you an informed opinion on their capabilities or effectiveness

FLshell is nice, but as it is it gives too much opportunity for players to abuse the otherwise intelligently-thought-out commands. Since it allows for remote banning of players in-game, it means that server admins can take action right then and there, if they catch someone doing something they shouldn't.

I second VNC as a great way to easily administer the Ioncross user interface, which means you don't even need to have a graphics card in your computer (Or just a cheap lil PCI one).
