Ioncross server operator problem

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Ioncross server operator problem

I'm running the WTS_World ver 2.0 w/2.2 patch on my server
I am also running the latest version of ioncross server operator
The server will run with ioncross for the better part of a day or so then I get the following error through ioncross:

run-time error '6':
overflow

In itself this isn't a big problem. If the server hasn't crashed you acknowledge the error and ioncross shuts down. I just restart ioncross and it's business as usual.

The problem comes in when this error occurs and then the server crashes. Ioncross is effectively locked up and the server will not restart.

I sent an e-mail to ioncross about a week ago but haven't heard anything back.
Hopefully someone on here can push me in the right direction to finding a cure..

Thanks in advance.

You might want to check out the IFSO Public Forum. I know that the author is very busy this month, as so may not have the time to answer your email. If you search for the word "overflow", you should find the answer to your question.

IFSO no longer has a "public" face as the author has stopped upgrading it. JoeBoomz may take emails but that's up to him.

I don't know specifically what your problem is but let's try a few things. Most of my fixable errors with IFSO resulted from bad FL MP saved game files. I suggest you check the error log window. Errors about players with over a hundred cargo items you can ignore. Errors about players with over 5 characters you can ignore (on my server there is just one person, me ) Errors containing error number 106 appear to be transitory in nature, ignore them. Then there are the ones that say this file has too few lines. I suggest you search in the Multiplayer directory and delete those files.

You also may see it crash during a refresh of characters. Make note of the last name scrolling quickly in IFSO - it may me the only hope you have in zeroing in on the bad file.

There are of course the many other issues other than bad saved game files.
- The flserver window title has to be identical to the one in IFSO.
- Make sure the location of the executable and config files for flserver are correct. I think the location of the Multiplayer directory is inferred from the config file location. When in doubt use the default locations during install of flserver.
- IFSO should be run only in an admin account.
- Use the latest .NET version for Windoze.
- IFSO only works with North American versions of Windoze. Some date format issue.
- When all else fails re-install!

It might help if there was more information on the circumstances, any errors encountered in IFSO and the event log (part of Windoze). Hope my shooting in the dark hit something!

FYI.

Problem was resolved by re-installing the latest run time files.
