Components

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Components

1. what components play a role in running a server?

2. Could someone give me a website that lets you run a website for free, like geocities.com?

3. Could someone give me a website that allows me to have forums for free?

4. Could someone please give me in detail how to post the Online players, player stats, and banned players on a website?

5. I am planning to get a P4 3.2 Ghz, 200 MB Ram, GEForce 5500 nVidia something vidao card and stuff like that. I can't list everything from the top of my head. Is that good?

6. I want to run some ventrillo software. Can I get that for free too?
(Ventrillo= the stuff that allows you to talk online. teamspeak would be OK too)

Thanx in advance.

1: Best server runing tools is Ioncross Freelancer Server Operator.
2: I think you already answeared this question: Geocities.
3: Proboards will host forums for free.
4: Player stats can be generated using Cryo's FlStat. For online and baned player list use Ioncross Freelancer Server Operator.
5: I don't know wtf is 200 MB RAM, maybe 256??? Otherwise your system specs look good (with 1GB RAM). Also you need to take a closer look at your Internet uplink. For example if you want to get a "lag-free" server for 10 simultaneous players you should have 512 kbps upstream bandwidth.
6: You already answeared this one to: Teamspeak

Hope this helps

If you want to run teamspeak on the same server/internet link you may want to beef it up a little more.
I would suggest running TS or a seperate server but my guess if you are going to try to use the cheapie, freebie, forums and webspace you probably do not have the internet connection to support what you want to do.
It all costs to get decent stuff.......like the 3 net admin posted you will need a 512k UPLINK just to support 10-20 players. If you want to run teamspeak as well you better at least double that.

@ saitnaro:
I think I meant 200GB ram/something else. I am pretty certain it was ram. Also, how heck am I supposed ro use the FL Stat? I downloaded b4, but I have no clue how to use it. And because I am a dummy, could you not give me a link that explains, please tell me in lamens terms. I need to post everything on a website, online, banned, stats of players. I have a comcast cable connection. I think it is 600+ kps or w/e. Please e-mail to [email protected]
thanx

You DON'T have 200GB RAM, trust me! At IFSO at web output set a .html file with full path, you will have stats generated into that file.

RTFM and the FM is FlStat home page and refer to chapter 6: Tips and Tricks. It has a very good example how to upload your generated .html files to your web server.
