Here's the problem with any kind of "true" role playing on servers. When freelancer was created, if you notice you go from a really crappy ship to eventually a great ship upon completion of the game.
Freelancer was designed to take you from beginner to complex.
MP Freelancer is not designed to handle "true" role playing.
If you wanted to have a war say between Liberty and Rheinland, I mean come on how long do you think a Defender is going to last against a Valkyrie. The Rhienlanders would win all wars in a server war situation, unless they were warring with the outcast and corsairs because of the Eagle, Titan, and Sabre's available in those systems.
No server that engages in Role Play can force their players to play each system type ship. Players make it their own rule to do such. The only thing that a server admin can do is, make a server role play in the fashion of setting up role playing guidelines, economies, government elections, and things of this likeness.......and let the players take it from there........
And I speak of these things as in a no-mod server.
Sure there are a ton of mods out there that make the game a little more interesting, but me personally, I've played a lot of those big mods, and I got tired of every 10 mins getting booted out of the server or game because of a mod error. A mod error would be where the authors of the mods did not take the time to make sure that when you tractor in something they've made available, is set to 'true' for a value of selling at any base. Most modding authors are just in a hurry to get something out there to "get their name" recognized in the FL community. If I had any kind of modding experience, I'd take a year if I had to to make the mod actually work with bugs being stuff like info not showing correctly on info cards, not bugs being where you get kicked constantly......but enough ranting about mods......
I host an RPG server myself, and I just have had a 3rd server join my association.
