ok, ive got a question here: is it possible to run a freelancer server off a computer without having freelancer installed on that pc? its a stupid question, but id like to know if anyone knows if it is possible. if its not, no big deal. id just like to know if i could run a server off an older machine. could it be done if freelancer was installed on another pc hooked into the network, using the older pc to remotely access the files it needs from the freelancer directory? id just like to know, cause i have an older pc that cant run freelancer, in addition to another that can. i know its not recommended that you play freelancer while operating a server, especially if you dont have a maxed out pc. just looking for options. thank.

Yes, I run my server off of a 'puter that has only the server files installed. On the FL disk it gives you this option. If you select the other option and install the game itself, you get the whole enchilada - the game and the server files.

I play the game (client side) on my main 'puter that I use for everything else including games. Since I am on a LAN I just ensure I log onto my server through the LAN (it lists in the global server list how to connect to all the FL servers, in my global server window I see one LAN server and the rest Internet). Logging in the server through LAN prevents you from using some of the precious bandwidth through your Internet pipe which can thereby reduce the amount of Internet players that can play. Good luck!

ok, thanks. im glad that microsoft thought of that. next question- will the FLMM work with only the server files installed? id like to know if i could run a mod. thanks for the help
