Communication between server Admins

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Communication between server Admins

We need some form of communications setup so that we all can communicate in a secure manner the different problems we may be experiencing on our servers and the different methods in which we handle them. As an example, just recently I experienced a large influx of cheaters on both my servers and it wasn't until days later that I realized that some of the larger servers had closed their servers to new accounts. Had I known about this in advance I could have prepared for it. Another thought concerning the recent server crashes that some servers have been having , I have experienced none of these crashes and I am running the same patches. Are the other servers also running the flaccount tool in conjunction with the patches? I have not used this tool yet.

I agree with the communication idea. Gotta stay ahead of those that "attack" what we administer.

I haven't had any cheater issues or crashes but then, hehehe, I haven't had many players. (thanks to flserver crashing pre-patch and my 4 weeks vacation, they all ran away when is was down for so long) Oh well, I'm back and time will tell how busy I get.

I have all the toys, fladmin, flserver patch v1.1, LancerGuard and flaccount browser from akataka. Haven't seen ANY adverse affects. Of course as previously mentioned my server hasn't been sufficently loaded to qualify my server as an unqualified success.

Well, there's good news on this front, but in order for this to be effective, people will need to be active.

We have already set up two avenues for communications between FL server admins. One is a mailing list tied directly to this web site. It allows for email communications that are directed only to members. The other is a website set up by one of our long standing FL enthusiasts and it's located here -> Lancer Admins dot Com . If you check that site, you'll see it's not been used in a long time for whatever the reasons (probably because it take some effort on the individual to click on the site to check for messages and if nothing new is posted for day, chaces are you'll forget it exists and not visit anymore.)

Taken both alternative into account, it might be better for realtime communications if the former mailing list is utilized for this sharing of ideas with each other. To get on this mailing list, simply send me an email directly requesting your inclusion to this MP server mailing list, I'll start bugging the poop out of Gibby to add you and then all you'll need to do is send emails to an address and everyone will get the message in their inbox. When you sent the info, be sure to specify what email address you want to have registered if you have more than one to play with. My email addy is [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected]. This is a great idea, participation is the key.

Yes, I think this is a good idea. I just opened my server and I am hoping to go 24/7 soon, so I need to know all the petanchlie problems I mite have. I'm having problems right now, but thats a differnt topic. Can you tell me any tools I mite need to have??

why not a mirc channle i have not done such things my self but i here there is a way of create a surcure channle

Deglor, there is one flaw with utilizing the Mirc option. Everyone would have to be on at the same time and with servers all over the world, that just not a viable option. I know I ain't getting up in the middle of the night to discuss FL server strategies. Email is 24/7. Mirc is a good idea, but not practical in this instance I wouldn't think.

I wonder if it would be possible to communicate Banned account ID's? That would surely be a huge boon to the community, removing the cheaters not just from one server, but many at the same time. Of course, due to the impact of being banned on several servers at once, 'propogated' bannings would have to be the most definite in terms of proof (screenys etc) and should be open to an appeal process of some sort.

I know this is probably a little unrealistic, but I can see massive benefits, if only in terms of enforcing accountability on all the cheating kids out there. An interesting thought anyway..

We could do that, but the list form Elite would fill a book.
