24/7 Seattle Based is back!

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

24/7 Seattle Based is back!

Like the topic says, I noticed that the Seattle Based server is finally back. I've been playing on it for a few days now...I guess I delayed telling you people so I could get a head start.

The ping seems a bit higher than I remember, despite having only a few players on at any time. So a part of me is worrying that it might be a fake. In other words, someone put up their own server and copied the name/descriptions. I'm sure I sent an email asking what was going on with the server, but I got no response...so I decided to ask it here. Could you please give some kind of confirmation that it is in fact up?

Does the IP match from the pervious server?

Post Thu Jun 26, 2003 3:25 pm

I can't remember the old IP, but it did look kinda similar. Maybe someone who does remember the old IP could check...I'd appreciate it.

I'm reasonably sure it's legit...but until I hear something from genedefect himself, there will always be that seed of doubt.

He (genedefect) already said he was putting it back up, and that it might come and go because he was rewiring.

It is back, I am going on vacation for about 2 weeks so I put it up for about a week now to see if I could keep it stable before annoucing it.

So far it has only gone down from me updating the banned or deleted character list.

While I know there are a few cheats still possible with the new patch, I have noticed a substantial drop in cheaters.

Curtosy of a new tool, it is now easier to go through user names, I no longer ban based on user names that don't fit the conventions in my server news, unless they are racist or derogitory toward others. I can just delete them, which seems to be working.

Hope everyone enjoys the server.

The higher ping that people have seen periodically was me putting my internet connection under substantial continual load and testing to see if the game would stay stable. I am no longer doing this so it should be pretty good.

Hey thanks for the info, I appreciate it. It feels good to know for certain that it's your server I'm playing on, as opposed to another server with the same name. I mean it's reassuring to know that all the work I put in over the past few days wan't for nothing.

Speaking of minimising cheating, perhaps you should consider using that LancerGuard Anti-Cheat MOD. According to them, it nullifies the use of invincible shield/hull, cloaking and makes Nomad lasers useless. Also, it's server-side and it's already been tested on patched servers.

Anyway I look forward to seeing a lot more players on the server.

When I got home today, I noticed some major corruption had occured to a large portion of my servers accounts. I have as a result had to rollback a lot of accounts, some to a point where they didn't exist.

Sorry for the inconvience.
