Minimum Spec for Server??

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Minimum Spec for Server??

Does anyone know what the minimum specs for an FL server are? I plan to have just a lan server running for myself and flatmates, but all i have in the way of spare boxes at the moment are just p166's (With 256mb RAM). Anyone know if this would be sufficient for 3 player LAN??

Apologies if this has been asked before and i havent been able to find the answer in previous posts.

Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.

I answered my own question last night (make that 5am this morning).

I currently have a LAN only server running on a p166 with 192mb RAM. Works ok for 2 people, but will try a few more connections and keep you updated.

The console still gives me the "unable to connect to list server" error message, but still works via lan.

i have a k6-3 @ 400Mhz and it can cope with about 4 people before it gets into the red on the graph.
if the people are in the same system then you can get more in the server but the game is not hard enough to make people team up so that never happens

Well, the 166 works ok with 3 people as long as they stay in the same system, sits about midrange yellow, occasionally going into the red.

I'm running a Dual PII-450 server with 384mb. I've yet to see it red-line, and I've had as many as 7 people playing in 3 different locations.
