Question about running a server

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Question about running a server

Hello Guyz,

I host my server (Europremium) for three weeks now and all is running fine

I can host 11 people on-line and include myself on a 2nd PC (LAN) and I never get a complaint about LAG or anything. Now I have one question:

Because I don't play online (by LAN), I don't know what the max is I can handle. I never get the yellow/red icon or lag, cause I play by LAN I guess. Can I check it out with the msec bar of the server? The highest value I got is 21msec until now (then lots of people are engaged in heavy fights with lots of computer enemies attacking eachother too). But in general my server is running at 14/15 msec.

I like to know what a server usually runs at. I mean servers with lots of people, what msec do they have? I have a P4 2.5 ghz with 1Gb of memory (RIMM).

Another question:
My players report : Sometimes i see a yellow icon for a very short time. Only once or twice an hour. Is it common with large servers they run sometimes in Red and more in Yellow? If so, and if this is acceptable I am too kind to my players and can increase too to 13 or so.

Thanks for your time in advance, i like to do the best for my players

Greetings and maybe see you sometime,
Europremium-OP-R*R

Hi OP-R8R,

I dont have informations you need, but regarding your lag questions (red/yellow icons) you can go check argonus's post, it's well explained, and those guys will certainly have the answers to your questions...
