Server reviews

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Server reviews

Hi ,
There seems to be alot of servers out there , some are better than others, some are down alot.

I Visit a lot of servers just to see what they are like. I'm thinking of developing a server list/ranking site which contains things such as reliability, cheating pvp etc. Would such a thing be worthwhile? Another good idea would be a univeral place to post password changes and notification , right on the home page , where people could see them directly , rather than buried in a forum, maybe even some sort of user activation software where they are only given a password if the register , or maybe recognmended by a member of good standing??

What do you think

Well since I'm on here because the server that I have been playing on for the past month decided to add a password and now I can't connect.....

I think some sort of ranking, review list would be a great idea.

BTW... Galactica is the server I was playing on. Wasn't too laggy, sometimes crashed but was always back up. Too bad the sysOP decided to go private...

forget the hull breach, what about the FIRE?[!?[!?

I think that's a great idea. Maybe this site could do something like that, especially since it's updated daily. Maybe each server review could list things along the lines of:

1)PK policies and adherance to server rules
2)Admin involvement
3)Prominent clans in the given server
4)General status of the server (is it 24/7..if so, when does it reset, or does it crash regularly)

I use a few servers:

Browclops: fast, reliable, hard to get in though. Odd lag spikes. Admin is firm on banning cheaters. Lots of independant pirating and PKs against lvl 20+ characters

Credere Freelancer 24/7: Small server, almost always up and fast. Good play policies, very little player or PK traffic

Alpha Centauri 2 24/7: Hard to join, lag caused by cheaters evident. Very little admin involvement. Large clan and pirate presence.

microsoft Freelancer 24/7: great server, good admin involvement. Zero tolerance for cheats. Never full. Fast, almost no lag.

That'll give it a start.

Sounds like a great idea to me... thought about doing something myself in PHP/MySQL but it needs to be somewhere with high enough visibility to be useful.

A simple list by name, server settings, prominent clans, policies, rating based on performance of the server etc would be useful but you could take it one step further and add some more interactive features such as user comments/ratings, allow admins to update their own server settings (password, max players etc) and that kind of thing to give the role maintenance of the resource back to the community and reduce the level of management required.
