LAN Server Crashed, dont see any prob, HelP!

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

LAN Server Crashed, dont see any prob, HelP!

Hi, i would to play on lan with a friend. We played 2hours without probs. Next day we want to play again. I startet server, and we played 15minutes. Then the server crashed. We both get a message that we lost connection. We copied the Player Profiles and startet a server and the same problem. We both got the microsoft error report task after exiting freelancer.

Now to the technical dates:
Me
Athlon XP 1.8Ghz +
1Gb DDR-Ram 333mhz
Radeon 9500Pro
80GB Space (enough free)
totally patch WinXP Prof
recent driver from Graphic to Sound
Direct X 9

He
Athlon Barton 2.5Ghz
512MB DDR-Ram 400mhz
Radeon 9500
100GB Space (enough free)
WinXP Prof
Direct X 9

Somebody know something about this server problem?
P.S.: We both could play on internet without problems

Got exactly the same problem here.

I've found out that it is not because of the network cards, since it crashes with just the Loopback adapter.
It's not because of the famous "3D sound enabled" either. It crashes anyway.

The only thing that works is deleting your Multiplayer in My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts, thus losing all characters.

Could you look up the size of the .FL files in that folder?
As far as I can see, those files get around 14-18k when the server crashes.

New players's .FL are just around 5k.

P4 2.0 GHz
1 GB SDRAM
WinXP SP1
SBLive 5.1 w/ kX drivers.

I've been snooping around with various debuggers and such, and have found out that Freelancer triggers a lot of First Chance Exceptions in msacm32.dll both during play and right before crashing.

Do anyone know where I can post a bug report to DA / MS about this?

I've looked up the size of the accouts, the one is 10kb big and the other 12kb.
I've forgotten to say, after the server crashes there was a microsoft error report message. There was something about the common.dll ...

After some research, I've found that the msacm32.dll file is the supervising library over the codecs in the system. Have you've got Nimo's codec pack or similar installed?

Got Nimo but not installed, only Divx 5.0.3 and Quicktime
I've cracked the game(getting on my nervs to had always the cdrom in my drive), maybe thats the reason but i dont think so. The freelancer.exe has nothing to do with the flserver.exe

As far as I can understand, everything in the game has an archetype.

A planet is of the Planet archetype, an Eagle turret is of the Turret archetype and soforth.

What I can understand from the error log, the game fails to read two archetypes from some kind of archetype database.

I'll try to trace for that function in the server and see when it gets called.

Could you and your friend try to run the game with the CD in drive and with the original EXE?

I can't try it because I've put my disc away in storage, and are running it from an ISO image w/ the crack.

I dont think the crack is the reason, because it worked one day.
Zao's therory is the right i think. Reading problems of datas.
But how to fix, reinstall?

I had the same problem. I had to wipe the accounts. It was still a little flaky so I ended up reinstalling also. That fixed it.
