Server problems

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Server problems

Ok I am having a few problems. It seems that no one can connect to my server. I think it might have something to do with the ip address that the server is pulling. Its pulling the local NAT address, not my ip address on the internet. How do I change this?

Thanks,
Brent

Server is Zian Planet.

I dont believe it's because of that. Do you have a firewall?

Post Thu Mar 20, 2003 2:07 pm

Well its not really a firewall, its a NAT. And yes I have the ports open and pointing to the server. If your currious its a Linksys. I have heard that some people have been having problems with Linksys routers. Just havnt seen this problem

Thanks,
Brent

Hmmh I share my server trough NAT also without problems.
Actually my server can be found trough FL own search engine.
It seem to work in finland and with my service provider. Maby you should call to your service provider and ask help for this from them?

Well I would prefer not to call my service provider. They know about has much about computers as a dead monkey. Ok can anyone check to see if they see Zian Planet out there. If your see it please let me know. If you don't I still want to know. I think the issue may be my router. Anyone have any sugjestions on good routers?

Nope, don't see Zian Planet

I'm also having a very similar problem as you - I'm trying to serve through a NAT, and no one is able to connect to my server. Many times they can't even SEE my server... I thought I had the correct port forwarding setup in my router, but apparently not.

Can anyone please clarify the correct ports that Freelancer uses for inbound and outbound ports? Someone told me it was 2300-2400 for inbound and 2302 for outbound... somehow that seems funny to me.

Ok give it a try again. I think it might be that the outside world cant ping me. I turn that option off originally. Since the server gives ping times, I am thinking this might be the issue.

Thanks,
Brent

I can see it, and the IP is: 12.218.10.132

Anyone know what this means?

C:\work\builds\dalibs\dalibs-build\build\Src\EngBase\Engine\engine.cpp(508) :

I do not have a directory or files of this sort. Any thoughts?

Ummm, where are you seeing this path and do you have your explorer set to hide system/hidden files on?

Annilyna you can find the correct ports that need to be opened by looking in the readme file in the Freelancer folder (2300 - 2400 should work, thats what mine uses). You might not have the ports open to the right IP address. Run IPCONFIG by going through your Start menu then selecting RUN. This should tell you the IP Address of your computer that your routers port need opened to.

I have a Linksys and it works fine. Go into the router and it'll tell you uor IP, or do an ipcongif /all and look under DHCP servers. Under forwarding, I just opened ports 2302-2304 to point to the server machine. Make sure you select UDP. At least that's what I did and it works fine.

I know what your problem is. You need to allow ping through wan. This was the issue that I was having that you could not see me because the list server couldnt ping me.

The message I posted about the file, I have vie whidden on so I can see hidden files. Not sure what its trying to do with the file or even where it is.

Make sure you have "Block WAN Request" set to no. This was my problem. Ok course it opens up hackers to ping you lan, but it should fix your problem. I think linksys has it default to yes.

Let me know if this doesn't work.
