Help!!! Problem with the netquartz ez-platform

I can't get the Demo to work

When i install the demo it will install the ez **** and then drop quoting a c++ runtime error. I can still install FL, but it wont run.

Any ideas?

d/l twice, installed countless times, AV disabled, FW shut down, no joy 8(

Can you describe you system in slightly more detail, like what kind of hardware and drivers you have, and is it the Subscriber demo you are talking about?

P4-2.4
512 MB DDR333
40GB Maxtor 7200
9700 pro

running XP-Home+SP1 patched
AV was disabled
FW was off

It's the demo available from FP, i got this cod from them, but basiclly it's the free demo (i think).

Thats not the same error.

I get the error prior to the actual FL install. I can install FL but it wont run. The only error message i get is related to the security program, not to FL

The Error message i got is:

The instruction at "0x771c741a" referenced memory at "0x00163b90". The memory could not be "read".

Bargib, I have the same error as Thunder Child. I have downloaded the software thrice with the same results. I think it must be some sort of setting or something that I am unaware of within XP.

Well i've done everything besides formatting the system (which i have no intention of doing over a demo).

It's not my firewall, it's not the antivirus program.

It's either a driver issue (my drivers are all up to date) or it's a service i've disabled and it's now coming back to bite me in the behind.

Merlin, can you post a hardware list of what you have?

Did you by any chance optimize the system by disabling services?

Did a memory check using a dos-based software , it's fine.

In your Windows\System32 folder, you should find this file:
qt-mt304.dll

What's its filesize for those of you who are having problems?

I get this error on startup: PAD Setup Error: Cannot open the PAD registry key

Thunder Child, Merlin:

Go to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, and remove Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Q328310. Then reinstall the program.

This should fix anyone getting the "memory could not be read" error.

Post Sat Feb 22, 2003 5:57 pm

REmoved the hotfix

REinstalled...although the memory message was gone i still get a runtime error after the ez-pad has finished installing, suffice to say FL won't run

What was that hotfix anyway?

Not sure, I did a search for the message you were receiving and that seemed to be the general consensus on the sites I found.

Try removing both FL and the launcher, rebooting, then reinstalling.

Oh, and you're supposed to be able to reinstall the patch after you've got the program loaded.

Post Sat Feb 22, 2003 6:07 pm

The hotfix doesn't effect me. So thank 8)

I still get that blasted runtime error, but i don't know whats causing it. My guess is the ez-pad can't connect to the verification server because i have a window pop up on the FP site that states "have you recivied your key..." yadda yadda yadda.

I'm tired of this crap.

Why couldn't they just release a demo normally?!

Thx, didn't work for me either. Like Thunder, I not going to reformat are really change things for a demo, especially when the game will be out in 1 1/2 weeks.
