Freelancer on 8800GTS, e4400

I just got Freelancer, it installed fine and everything, and I installed that QuickPatch. But, whenever I open the game, then select New Game, it crashes for some odd reason. There is no Microsoft Error Report thing, either. I believe that it has something to do with my hardware. Here are my computer specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo e4400 @ 3.0ghz
2x1gb Geil Ultra DDR2-800 RAM
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640mb
Gigabyte DS3-965P Mobo

I've looked all around for any problems but I haven't found any issues related with the 8800 series Nvidia card, just older models.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks a million!

Can you provide a copy of your log file? If you paste it here though please remove repeated lines.

I took out all the loading lines, I just left in most of the stuff near the end when it started loading the singleplayer. One thing I did noticed was the very last line... maybe that's a clue...

Uninstall the game and delete the game folder if it still exists. Then reinstall it and see if the game will run (do not install any patches). If that doesn't work try adding your video card to the flconfigdatabase.txt file in the correct section. Post here with the results.

Well, I uninstalled Freelancer, reinstalled, and initially it didn't work. Then I added my graphics card to the database, and it didnt work. But, when i went to the My Games/Freelancer/Accts/Singleplayer/ folder, and deleted the only file in there, Restart.fl, it worked. So I'm happy now.

This is kind of off-topic, but how do you change the port for the Server program? I wanted to set it to a specific port... Thanks.

That is very strange behavior. I don't suppose you would be willing to install the QuickFix Patch to see if it continues to work? The worst thing you would have to do is reinstall again. I just want to see if the crashing is related to the patch or some strange error on your install.

To change the port you need to edit the port line in the freelancer.ini file.

I installed the QuickFix patch and it worked fine, so I'm very happy now. It must have been that corrupt Restart.fl file or something...

Thanks for the help!
