Cannot Connect to Global Server

I started with a fresh install of FL

Zone Alarm has been told to allow FL 'net access

My router (lynksys wrt54gs) has had ports 2300-2400 opened as per the instructions for FL at portforward.com

I followed all other instructions listed by bakedpotato in the stickied MP connections issues thread.

FL still will not connect to the global server and display available games.

Does anybody have any other advise? Or do you need any further information from me?

PC specs:

WinXP sp2
2gb RAM
GeForce 6200
Intel p4 3.0gHz

When you say "fresh install" do you mean you made sure there were no files left in the Freelancer folder or deleted Freelancer before you installed it again?
If you un-installed and then re-installed Freelancer you may have a file or two left in the folder.

You could try shutting off your firewall and see if that works.

I've had FL off my machine for about a year, and the computer has been reformatted during that time.

I'll try turning ZA off and post ther results.

EDIT: Well that's a first. Turning zone alarm off worked. I've never had that problem before....

Did you update to a new version of ZA since the last time you had FL on the computer? There was an issues a year or so ago with the newer version of ZA and it was nessisary to return to an older one.

No, I haven't updated ZA.

But I have a new problem, I can only seem to connect when I run FL with the -w command line.....
