Engine kill has never worked.

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Engine kill has never worked.

For some reason, the engine kill button has never worked for me.
I have tried remapping it other keys...nada.It has never worked,
as far as I know. Not in vanilla, nor with any mod.I have reinstalled
numerous times, and this has no effect on it whatsoever.I have gotten
used to doing without it,but it drives me nuts not knowing why it
doesn't work.It just plain bugs me.Anyone have any ideas as to why
it is nonfunctional?

It depends on what you use to speed up/slow down, I find that the mouse wheel stops the engine kill from working as it has an automatic speed setting that is always on.

I never used a mouse wheel to speed up or slow down.
My first mouse didn't have one,so I usually don't bother
using the thing.Just not used to rolling it I guess. For
the longest time,I used the default keyboard setup. It
never worked then either.See,annoying isn't it?It never
mattered that much against vanilla NPC's.But now that
I started playing multiplayer, its getting increasingly
harder to stay alive.Heck of a bug.I still can't for the
life of me figure out why it doesn't work.Seriously
screwy.

have you tried any of the available general-patches yet? i would recommend the quickfix or quickfix plus available at the EOA's site here

other than that i'm stumped - i would try a different keyboard, or if my system was in need of it anyways I'd re-install windows from scratch..... sorry i can't offer any more help

Yep,I've installled the patches.Again nothing.
Tried different keyboards,same thing.I had
to reinstall Windows anyway awhile back, had
no effect either.See why I'm so frustrated?
Thanks for the attempt though,I appreciate it.

I have never encountered this problem or heard of it before. Are you using a standard keyboard or one of them new nifty high tech keyboards? Is it a USB or a standard PS/2 plug? Yu may want to try a different keyboard. Other than what has been suggested already and the above things I stated, I do not know if this problem will be fixable for you.

If you have ever played on TFL (Top Freelancers) that mod may be the source of your problem.
It happened to me and I don't want to go into details..but my Z was disabled and worse than that happened.

Have your PC registry checked out and have your keyboard checked out.

I have a standard keyboard with a PS/2 plug.
I don't think I played the TFL mod,though I
have it downloaded.I kinda doubt that is the
problem though.I didn't discover Lancers Reactor
until I had played the SP through a couple dozen
times. And then it was months before I started
downloading mods.I haven't played all the mods
I have in FLMM yet.It has been like this since I
first played the game. Thanks for trying guys.

Maybe your repeat delay of the keys pressed is set too high. This could cause the engine kill to become disabled again immediately after it was enabled, because the game detected two keypresses during the time you just pressed that button once. Don't know for sure, thou, but worth a try I guess.

Its in the keyboard options inside the Windows' Control Panel.
