Freelancer on Linux

I have just switched to Kubuntu Linux for the first time and have some problems running FL with WINE. I know that it CAN be done, I'm just not sure how.
FLServer just tells me that it cannot initialise DirectPlay so cannot support Multiplayer whereas FL.exe either does nothing when you click on it (the 1.0 version) or flashes something at you in a split second about user names and passwords (1.1).

So, does anybody know how exactly to run this? As a side noted, Mod Manager works perfectly..

FL requires DirectX until an Emu supports DirectX it wont ever happen

WINE and Cedega both kind of emulate DX (with Cedega apparently being the better one). As I say, I know it is possible due to a person playing on the Asylum51 server with the same OS as me, I just don't know how yet

Edited out sig - once per thread please.

Why don't you ask the person who plays on the Asylum server then? Sounds like he is the expert, and if you then wish to share the knowledge with folks here, I am sure that many will be VERY appreciative towards you

Yeah, he isn't around much anymore tbh.

I did recieve a message on another forum telling me that it DOES work with the latest version of Cedega.....but I just cant seem to do it. I made another Windows partition just for FL. I will eventually get it going on Linux (hopefully) I just haven't got the time at the moment

Fraid all i know about linux is that I'm useless with it, so I cannot help. Hopefully someone else also has a passion for trying to get it working, and will stop by.
