LAN Issues - Couldn''t find answer

Sorry if this is just another post of the same issue. I tried searching through several of the existing topics and couldn't find an answer, so I'll try anyone who may know what's going on.

My dad and I have been trying to play Freelancer on LAN. We installed the game, then the FLMM 1.31, then Rebalance 3.5. We did this on both our machines. I disabled my Trend Micro firewall, and it worked great. We were able to join and play with no problem.

Then... we both left the game to eat dinner. When we tried to recreate the LAN game, neither of our computers could see the server I created on my computer. WTF right? It worked fine the first time with no flaws, then the second time it just won't work. We spent a good 2-3 hours trying different settings, reinstalling the game, trying it without the rebalance mod, everything. We tried a fresh install of the game on a third computer, and it still wouldn't see the server (on any computer). We can't get the game to see any of the servers we create.

Weird to us, it worked fine the first time, now it won't work at all. We can create an internet game, and we can see it from the game, but when we try to connect it won't let us connect. When we create a LAN game, it won't see the server at all.

Any thoughts on the matter are greatly appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read this post.

this might work for you, as it worked for me - configure your network with static IP's instead of DHCP, this can be a little technical so i won't explain it but you can google it - and set your local network's gateway(found in control panel/network connections/LAN connection/TCP-IP settings) the same as your router/hub's gateway, it worked for me

another fix that half worked was setting the network adapter's gateway as the IP address seen in the internet games list,eg my external IP - but it broke my internet connection, so the first fix is what i'm still using
