Game crashes to desktop when clicking "New game"

Now, this is just a little strange, I can perfectly connect to multiplayer games and play in them, but when I try to start a new single player game... i see the loading screen flash, and freelancer crashes to the desktop. I looked at the error log and it says this at the end.

E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\LoginMgr.cpp(351) : NOTICE:General:Starting single player game.
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\Gf\LocationController.cpp(1029) : *** WARNING: Failed to get start location

Now, i've reinstalled the game, so this is a fresh install, but it still crashes. I'm running a athlon 3000+, 6800 GT, 2 gigs of ram, and a X-fi sound card, and this problem seemed to have happened somewhere in the last few months, because I have been able to play the game before and it never crashed at all, ever.

The only piece of hardware that i've changed inbetween the last time it worked and now is my sound card, and i went from a Audigy 2 to a x-fi xtrememusic... and since the game works in multiplayer i'm doubting that it's a sound card or video card issue.

Currently I am running no mods, and i haven't touched the mod manager or anything, so that takes it out of the equation. I'm running it using the quickpatch + 1.1, so all the files are up to date.

I just tried running the game from a clean install, no patch, no nothing, just install and go, and it still crashes. I have no idea how to fix this, and no clue where to start... i'm seriously stumped...

Disregard this... I just was enlightened. I've been reading all the threads on it, and somehow missed Chip's thread on how to fix it, i deleted all of my saved game files, and magically.... it worked. I couldn't believe that saved games would crash a new game, lol. I feel kinda silly now, as i tried reinstalling video card drivers, sound card drivers, ect. ect... when it was just a simple fix.

Thanks though anyway
