Multiplayer and Vista

Has anyone figured out how to connect to multiplayer when running vista. I have checked my firewall in my 2Wire Gateway, aslo added the game to McAfee both server and .exe still nothing. I have checked Microsoft Firewall added the game.

This is exasperating I know that the ports that the game uses are all open on all of these items yet I am stuck. I am not trying to run any mods or anything. I am not getting any kind of permission prompts and I am running everything with Administrator rights. Help!

Simple solution, go back to XP the bugs have largely been worked out of it, unlike the Beta release of vista. (I know this is a public "its ready release" but given MS track record on OS's its a beta release they are charging you to test for them

That is a problem because I no longer have a copy of XP due to a house fire. So I only have Vista Ultimate and it is the full install. So I am assuming that there is no work around at the moment for Vista. Oh well so I guess I keep playing single player until there is a fix. Thanks for the help

I figured it out, its not a problem with DX10 or IPv6, but with the anti virus programs. The only AV that we have found to work is AVG. With Norton, McAffee, or Avast installed FL will not work in MP. There is either an incompatibility with these programs in Vista or these AVs are not coded right for Vista.

yeah - they coded them wrong, it wasn't Microsoft screwing up vista AV support (remember they claimed their own AV would be the exclusive option? haha) and not notifying them until the last moment. *sarcasm dripping all over*
