after editing an ini

I edited an ini and when I try to play the game using that ini it quits like it is missing a file but with no error message. The otiginal ini works fine. How can I get the uncompressed ini to work in the game?

This info is not well explained in the uncompressor utility.

it has to be somthing you changed because i had this problem a million times the thing is you have to change the file to its original state so you have to delete all things exept if you have changed sommthing like the refire rate and collor.

After you are done editing the .ini file which probably looks something like this "Universe.ini.txt" make sure you delete the .txt to return it to an ini file.
Also make sure you have all the .ini files in the string(If your initiating one)edited corectly or youll crash it.

And makew sure you make the right changes... FL can be very picky... especially about tradelanes

Also note, you may have an incompatability with a previously created MP character. I edited my [ market_ships.ini and [ mpnewcharacter.fl files twice to try something, and FL was crashing with both the 2nd set and the originals, since it was trying to read info about chars created at the intermediary step.

Now I delete test chars as soon as I check them out.

I had the same problem , i changed the ini files data but the extracted file already has this name " shiparch.ini " attached to it with no txt at the end. The file will not run . I removed the original into a backup folder and tried to run the game again with the file and it quits to desktop. I put the orig file back in and it runs. So the thing is the instructions on the bini program said to rename the text file but the file already has the ini on it. I need some help here guys . The only thing i altered in the shiparch .ini was the libery frieghter Rino.

You say the file already has .ini on it, but are you sure the .txt isn't hiding on it too? From any folder window, go to Tools->Folder Options->View and make sure the box "Hide extensions for known filetypes" isn't checked. If it is checked, you wouldn't see the .txt ending, only the .ini ending.
