I am not a mod(d)er nor am I a Modeller (i will be in about 2.5 years) and I think it would be cool to just add the ships that we'd always like to pilot from the great animated series COWBOY BEBOP such as the Bebop (you'd have to heavily mod the game to allow docking with moorings) the swordfish II (Spike's Mono-racer) the RedTail (Faye's purple fighter) maybe the Hammerhead (jet's rarely used utility vehicle) and the Heavy Metal Queen (VT's freighter)
I remember thinking that back when I used to play I-War 2. I always thought the Cowboy Bepop ships would be a perfect fit in the I-War universe. Rapid fire gatling guns that can rip you apart, with finite ammo supplies of course, and the ability to have multiple target lock-ons with missiles (I know that isn't in I-War, but...this is my pipe dream!), along with a freakin' big laser to shoot puny little ships with, yeehaw!
I wonder if Freelancer has the capability for such a modification. Newtonian physics would have to be part of the deal, certainly. Here's hoping!

Y'know, it's funny you should mention Cowboy Bebop. I finally finished purchasing the series (been waiting until I could get them all.. 's been torture, even though I've seen half the episodes on tV) and noticed something when playing Freelancer after watching the first few episodes.
Is it just me, or is the trade lane system a -lot- like the transit lane system used in Cowboy Bebop? Other than the fact thay one is yellow and the other is blue, of course.

I've only ever seen one episode of Cowboy Bebop and it was in Japanese so I missed some of the plot; really neat concepts though, loved the shattered moon
(in real life, I probably wouldn't be so enamoured) and the asteroid habitats; The red flier was a good design too.
Anybody know where I can get some episodes with subtitles?
Tim.

I know this is off the whole topic of editing, but....Sorry...
I don't know if any Cowboy Bebop episodes with subtitles air in the states, but you can probably find the DVD sets on sites like:
http://www.animenation.com
http://www.animenmore.com
-You could probably even find entire sets of them on eBay if you brave enough, though they may be bootlegs.

Cowboy bebop is one of those animes that are actualy much better dubbed. The voice acting they got is awesome. The original japanese voice for Spike just doesn't have much character, its very plain sounding, but the english voice oozes character. Same thing is true for inuyasha if you ask me.

The problem with dubbing (for me anyway, not because I'm some hardcore otaku)
is that english dubbed anime seems to use the same voice actors to some degree. Now, the voice acting is good, but hearing the same voice in so many different animes can get rather...repetitive. That's just me though, I think.
Question - The english voice actor for Inuyasha, is the same voice for Bit Cloud(sp?) in Zoids?

Anime dubs are often ****ty as I'm sure most of you have noticed; they always tend to breathlessly rush through everything, making it sound rediculous. However, female voices in Japanese anime are often daft sounding too; Hampsters on helium screeching 'hai! domo arigato gozaimasu!!!! atashi no koe wa kawaii sugi desu ne?' or somesuch at 700 khz.
Momonoke no hime was one of the few anime films I've seen with a really good English dub but then again, they got big name actors to do it.
Talking of voices, it's a real shame that the voices of the different houses all have American accents. If I remember correctly, starlancer made an attempt to do a Japanese accent but they seem to have dropped this for the sequel.
