Manual/Help File Info? PLEASE READ if you are creating a hel

Hey guys (and gals),
As I have been spending countless hours reading through all the posts, I have noticed that many people want a single help file or source for editing .INI's and such. Also a few people have stated that they are "working" on one. All I want to know is WHO is working on this and HOW MUCH of it is complete. I will be willing to help create this document/web page/whatever-the-hell-it-is in order to help everyone out.

Also I need to add: If you have info on how to do something or what something is, etc. DO NOT post it on this thread. Instead, EMAIL the info to one of us working on the File. That way, we keep the size of this thread to a minimum.

On another note, for those of you who want to "search" the forums, there is no search button. But there IS a workaround (kinda). On the top-right of the forum is a drop-down box that says "Show topics from last # days". Just change it to say "Show topics from last YEAR". That way, you'll be able to see EVERY thread created for that specific forum. Now I realize there are drawbacks to this, like people on dial-up having to wait 10 millenia to open the webpage, and also you wont be able to find a SPECIFIC post, but you will be able to search EVERY topic.

I hope this helps any confused people out there. And for you Moderators, maybe this could be made sticky (after we find out who is making a help file) and updated every once in a while so we know the progress on this so called Help file being created.

And by the way, my email address is in my profile if someone wants help organizing info for the future uber help file :-)

And for the record: Im NOT in any way smaking down on people complaining. ALL I want is for people to get info on the progress. Who knows, maybe by this thread, you'll find out that more than one of you are working on a help file, which will be good cause then you can combine info about your findings.

I am taking things I am finding here, and compling them into word documents, with intrructions from a complete newbie POV - making a unoffical SDK if you will. If we could get everyone on this, it would be fanstatic. If anyone is intrested in helping out, please contact myself at Xelot 1001 on AIM, or at [email protected] for email.

So far (tonight) I got the system/planet/station names done, and spiffed up and fixed up the system creation document, and made a index for the tutorials.

Thanks

I am working on such a document right now I estimate that it is about 25% complete. I have listings in it that tell what ini files are used for what purpose, the abbreviations and ids_names for all the player ships, and a listing for the systems. I am currently sorting through the files to find the name to go with the weapons in the equip files. Any help anyone can offer on this would be GREATLY appreciated.

Its me again. Currently Kru Noctum and I are creating a professional looking "SDK" for Freelancer. Any and all information is greatly needed to get this product finished as quickly as possible. Email us any info you have please! Also, if any of you have AOL Instant Messenger, my AIM screenname is "comander805".

Thanks to everyone for the information already in the forums!

I just wanted to update everyone, I have written yet another tutorial today, and I know Superfreak is working on at least two more tutorials that I know of, and Graf X is working on another. Things are really coming along. Once just these tutorials are done we will have 7 full tutorials. If anyone who posts a tutorial here could email me a copy of there tutorial in word form, I will apply the proper format and add it to my SDK with your name on the tutorial of course (Please add your real name, first and last.) We also need refrence tables and such (What all the options are for a given variable and such in everything. Thank you for this wonderful mod community support, and I hope you will contribute.

You can send the .doc's to [email protected]

Thanks,

Question for all you modders out there... I am currently writing a tutorial/document that lists EVERY editable .INI in the game and what they do/info they contain. If anyone has info on the .INI files (appart from those in the EQUIPMENT folder and SHIPS folder), please email me at [email protected]

Thanks to all the info we have been collecting these past few days, our project to create an "SDK" for modders is comming along nicely!

Alpha, unless you can tell us what it does, I know I dont have the time to figure out what it does diffrent, but maybe superfreak or graf x would like it...

So I guess you can just email them to me with a small description too.
