And if yes how? I thought max speed was 999, can't make my ship go any faster.

no mine also seems to stop at 999

although in the info about it, it does say 1700

No basically you cease to exist because when something accelerates over the speed of light the atoms fall apart. Or something like that, anyways you cease to exist

basically, i put something like about twenty 9's on the max force of the thruster.

but watch out if you go to look at the thruster ingame and it shows 1*%J as the speed as this means it crashes the game, only do it on a thruster you have made ureself or that isnt used in the game

it shows as 990 but it would seem that you are going faster than cruise

ovbiously you dont travel that fast, it would instantly crash the game. No matter how fast you make your thrusters, the maximum speed your ship will fly in-game is 990. Yes it may say in the info box that your modified thruster has a speed of 5000 but in actuality you are only going 990. The trade lanes themselves go at 2000m/sec as i have tested this in correlation to how long it takes to fly the length of the trade lane using cruise engines which go at 300. Its simple math. Divide the path of the waypoint (lets say 30k) by the speed you're currently going (300m/sec) and you will get X amount of seconds to reach that way point. Now to find out how fast the trade lane goes you do the reverse of the above equation to determine its speed.
