i looked at this file in notepad (no encryption) and it seems to me as if you can change the model for your character. Although that is completely useless as players cannot see other players outside of the ship. It seems like they planned to make multiplayer where you walked around on planets, but they ran out of time and made a cheap menubased planet system.
