the big black monolith in 2001 and 2010

anyone seen those films? they have a big, black, rectangular and mysterious monolith in them, id like to see one in game, just floating around in space, possibly with the ability to teleport you to a random point in the game at gate velocities.

This shouldn't be too hard to do once the model format is open.
The effects you can script is not realy known yet, afaik.
But there should be something cool we can make this monolith do to you

how about having it as a jump hole but textured as a monolith, it could be in a random place ( either near a sun or a gas giant ) and send you to a random place
