Various questions regarding difficulty

I have a few questions about difficulty, so I'll try to sort them by number since they are somewhat in depth:

1) Having only played the demo, I cant comment personally, but I see alot of posts complaining about the difficulty. I also remember seeing a post about editing something in an .ini file that can change the difficulty value (someone said at a value of 5 one rocket killed them). Is it possible to change this number easily (i.e. with little editing experience) to adjust the game to your preference? And does it also affect the computer controlled players (i.e. a missile kills you in one hit, but also kills an equally shielded/hulled NPC)?

2) I imagine that ships belonging to various factions appear more or less randomly. Is it possible to decrease the number of ships spawning in favor of less stronger opponents?

3) Is it possible to change the reputation values for each faction's ship you kill? For example, can you make it so killing a rogue nets you +2 navy points and killing a navy pilot nets you +10 rogue points? I know this doesnt balance out, but I just chose those numbers for examples sake.

1) Don't know if this is possible.

2) Maybe. Well iv'e seen spawn time's in the ini files somewhere, can't remmember right now which one's, but im not sure what you mean,do you want less ship's spawing and weaker or less ship's and stronger.

3) Maybe. Seen that to somwhere, if i recall it has the rep gain/loss for missions and kill's, think that in the character folder, one of the ini's in there.

Bit of an update to 2:

I think this has to do with the the spawnning of ships

repop_time = 90
max_battle_size = 4
relief_time = 30

these lines were taken from li01.ini fill in the DATA\UNIVERSE\SYSTEMS\LI01 folder.
