Nickname->Name?

In all of the decompressed .ini files, there are numerous nicknames listed, but no "real" names per se. Does anyone know where the nicknames are converted into real names? I'd imagine it happens in an .ini file, but I can't find it.

most of the text for the game are stored in .dll's. Which probably holds true for ship names aswell, I havn't seen a complete ship name in any of tne ini files

update: looks like ship, base, planet, system, faction names are all stored in nameresources.dll

the actual names are numbers...

those nick names are just tags like we use in html. it also makes it easier for the programmer so he/she doesn't have to look up a number even 2 mins while coding...

If you look at the shiparch.ini you will see the id tags = a number
