new ships

Hi all !!!

has any had a look at ship replacements yet. i have looked through the files and the only thing that looks as though it might be a problem is the damaged hull sections (not sure how this works) just wanted to know if any one had been delving inot this yet, cos i have some nice ships awaiting the freelancer universe.

hm.. nothing sure here either, but i think that the damaged stuff might be in extra files..

qoute from DA about 3ds obj models in freelancer for editing.

DA: They’re already in the hog files in 3D-studio form, so we’re leaving it to the editing community at TLR to go get them!

and ol Phil said this about modding...

Phil: Umm, well we have faith in the Lancers Reactor folk [laughs.

so everybody go back to work. on a reps note, i made everyone like eachother but have yet to edit them all to like me lol.

I was able to change the starting ship so I see no reason to hold off on building a model now.

I changed alot of stuff around back and forth to see what crashed the server and what did not.

You can mix and match stuff lol. Was pretty funny the first time I did it.

I also created a whole new character for my mod cross-breeding models already in the game.

All the models used are 3ds format so we should be able to convert alot of your Starlancer models pretty fast. However getting the hitbox, weapons points and thrusters lined up will have to be via trial and error it seems. I assume that by looking through 95% of the ini files today...

I'd say that the hardpoints are stored in a seperate file... if you look in the ships directories, there are 3 different filetypes: .3db, .sur and .cmp

Post Fri Feb 28, 2003 7:04 pm

pretty sure the .sur files are the hardpoints as there is a .sur for every model and there is a new .sur for every damaged wing/engine.
