game crashes when pieces are lost.

you might have heard about this in abother topic, but no one ever responded. what file is assosiated with the repair costs of fins, tails, and wings? i have a problem where i tried to re-implement these parts into a mod that does not have them, and when the ship with them damaged tries to dock, it causes a game crash.

please help, i have a feeling it has to do with no cost assigned to the pieces.

P.S. ona side note, is their any way to change the names of ieces on the switch to target view? (ex. from "component" to "bow"

nope the cause is that the game says in the save file 'this and this are broken' but the mod says 'this and this' never existed in the first place - repair cost has nothing to do with it

First don't go screwing around with somebody elses mod, always make sure you have their permission first, especially where ships are concerned as 90% of them don't belong to the mod maker, and shipwrights are VERY touchy about people messing with their creations.

Your {CollisionGroup}'s/damage 3DBs are probably what's wrong.

Cost is assigned in the same way as the ship hull, depending on how many hitpoints need to be replaced will determine the cost, I'm pretty sure there is a multiplier assigned to the ship class as well, in my experience a 100 hitpoints {CollisionGroup} costs more to repair on a VHF than on a LF.

**shuffles off with a new headache**

hey, sorry for the long response (car accident) but could you possibly explain more about how to fix this its (odviousely) a very big problem. also i do have permission to mod this...mod, and when im done, if all goes well, it will be applied to the mods server. also, the ships are not custom, they ard default fl ships, and i am currently working on the liberty dread.

im sorta a beginner modder (i guess) so im not sure what a "3DBS" is. please explain.

a .3db is a freelancer simple model. i would suggest giving up on trying to mod other peoples work and make your own - much easier to learn that way i think

i dont know why all you people assume that when "edit" and "mod" are in the same sentance someone is automatically stealing. the mod i am working on is not for myself it is a type of mod that people can submit work to and it will be updated onto the main server. i am not stealing, you can take a look at our forums if you want. (ask for link)but i Am NOT playing this on the mods server, i am lan servering it. to there should be no "disagree with server" issues.

second, i took all the "[simple"'s from vanilla fl. i did not think this would be a problem because the ship models are the same. and it seems to work fine in space. are you sure there is no item assosiated with them? (like the crash when you open your inventory you dont have your engine) if you did not understand from other posts, everything works as it should in space, but when docking is attempted with a part lost, the game ctd's.
