Help Would Be Appreciated

I've made a ship design in an old cheap piece of design fotware (pro/Desktop) and have no clue on where to begin coding it into an actual ship, if anyone wants the design email me at [email protected] and ill send u the design to have a fiddle with. I can only send certain file formats though, these are Medusa Model File, IGES File, STEP File, VDA File, Sat File and ProductView File. Be warned I havn't been able to find any converters for these to a .cmp (assuming that is the right format i need to convert it to) so when you ask for the file please say what format you want it as aswell.

If you want to see your ship "fly" ... I suggest getting Milkshape and installing the needed Freelancer cmp/mat exporters for it that you can find here.
If you're serious about modeling, then purchasing a license for Milkshape is the
way to go and it's not expensive.

Biggest problem is finding something that can convert those ancient formats into something more modern.

As Rankor has already pointed out, you need Milkshape and the CMP exporter plugin to create CMP files.

That sounds like a difficult one to convert from.

I'm afraid you'll have to do a lot of legwork yourself to try to get hold of a converter that might convert at least to .3ds format if there is one anywhere?

... or you can send it to my pal Bejaymac and he will somehow make the time to find converters or photocopy it & remodel it... and then make sur files for it too... out of pure curiosity!

I'll pass on that StarTrader, I've got enough modelling work to keep me busy for over a month, especially considering I've been given permission to convert a couple of the ships in the downloads, and I'm waiting to hear about some others as well.

I did however find an app that can import IGES, STEP & SAT formats, Deep Exploration by Right Hemisphere has an impressive list of import formats, and will export into almost any modern 3D format (except MS3D), so if you want I can convert it into something Milkshape and the other 3D apps can use.
