Creating Admin and Client Versions of a Mod

Is it possible to have two different versions of mod working together without either side Crashing. I would also like to know how to get access denied for a jump hole for the client version in MP but have it accessible for the Admin version so I can have a bases to purchases Admin equipment and ships.

Thanks

I don´t think this is possible. But you can use the Ioncross Server Operator for ships/equip.

Actually its very possible. I did all this in my Galactica Hellgate 1.2 mod. There's various ways to achieve what you require, certainly with jumpgates, but you can have it so that only an admin faction can go through it to an admin system which is exactly how we had ours.

If you're talking vanilla and you don't want people to download an addon then it's still doable. Make your system, add all your stuff, bases/planets whatever you like really, and make it so it can be installed with FLMM for your admins. This means only they would see the new sytem or jh/jg and no players would see them. Then they trot off to your new system/base, get what they need and hop back. For an observer they would simply vanish, then reappear. Remember its the admins only that have the addon so only they would benefit.

If you have a mod it becomes more complicated, but still possible.

I thought that would cause crashes but i am running it with a mod
Could you explain how to do it with the mods on both client and Admin if you know plz

Also, if i uses vanilla does the server run the admin version ?

The server and the client must have the addons, or in your case, the server and the admins, nobody else needs it. You make the addons that you require, give the files in FLMM format to your admins after sticking a version on the server and that's it.

so say i have a mod for the clients adding extra systems and the Admin has all of that aswell as their own system do i put the system that the admins have in the client version but leave out the jump hole and have the Admin version of the mod on the server.

If this isn't how it works please could you explain in the context above. Thanks.

this is what gibbon means . 1. put the add on system "admin system" in flmm fomat install to server then distribute to the admins only admin clients have this add on everybody else no. understan my friend.

Ok, so let's see if i can make this clear.

You have a mod already with new systems for the client. Add in the new admin stuff, system, weapons, bases, whatever. Then stick this version on the server. At this point, only the server has the admin system. Then give your admins the new client version of your mod with the admin systems added to it. The point is, if the server has it then the admins can use it. Means they can utilise the system but your players cant, as they don't have the files. This also means you don't have to close off any jh/jg as the players dont have it but the admins do.

Example:

You could make a jg and stick it outside manhattan. Only the admins would see it and be able to use it as they have the files. As long as its on the server as well then the admins can use it.

o btw in the client mod would i put in the the weapon_equip in the client and would i need the weapon_good or is that only needed for the selling of the weapons

Post Tue Sep 04, 2007 12:17 pm

The weapon good is for selling weapons, so if u have stuff ur selling to admins then it must be in the admin client version and on the server version, but not in the player client version as you dont want them buying admin stuff
