Removing Docking Rings

I recelty have figured out a way to remove the docking ring from a planet by rewriting that part of the solararch.ini so taht it is a wormhole instead.

Now, exiting the planet works fine, but the problem I need help with is, when I go to enter a planet, the ship flies to where the wormhole is, then begins to fly backwards away from it about a 100 meters or so, then it takes me to the planet's surface as if I've docked. Can anyone help me fix this?

thats because the docking hardpoints are different
you will need to edit them to match the gate

...... why not get a model with no mat + sur (and/or phantom_physics = true),
add proper HPs and use that (as a invisible docking ring).

And if you use type = STATION instead of type = DOCKING_RING you can also
have additional bases on a planet.

While on this subject, I would like to make it possible to just click on a planet and land from any four sides to make it look like you can enter the planet from any direction you would be landing at the same base/planet. I already use the planetary beacon mod so I have invisible docking rings.

I've tried editing the hp with hardcmp, but it won't change them for some reason. Also, I already know how to place more than one base on a planet without changing that to = STATION. Thank you though.

,,, just an spontaneous idee:

Maybe place a set of (invisible) docking rings around the planet
and make them "child" of the planet.

(Might also be a new possibility 2 crash the server. ) :-)

addition:
If you place a set of (invisible) docking rings around the planet
and use them as usual and set them all "dock_with" this planet
it should work imho

@flybyu: You could put one of those docking beacons at the center of the planet and give it the planet's name (same infocard numbers). Just increase the solar radius and docking radius of the object in solararch.ini so that they are larger than the radius of the planet and it's death/burn zone. Now, you probably won't be able to click on the planet directly to dock, you will likely have to click the name of the docking beacon from the contact/target list.

Now, when you undock, you won't want to be inside the planet. Throw a hardpoint outside the planet's atmosphere/burn/kill zone, and set it as the undocking hp.

I've been meaning to mess around with this for a while. It would be nice if there was an easy way to do this.

Also, could you not instead of making a planet a =planet, make it a base?

Ok, so now that we've covered that, any idea on what the best way is to make a docking ring invisible? I've tried making it a wormhole in both the shiparch.ini and game, and that's what causes it to to do as i first said.

@alfa_astrix: Do you mean like in the TNG-mod?

Yeah! I noticed that they make it to a wormhole, but when i try it, it doesn't work right.

You can set the LOD ranges in solararch.ini to 0, 0 so you won't be able to see it. You can still click it though.

Thanks. It's so simple, that I didn't think of that. Der...
