Music?

Ok, I'm trying to put new music into the menu screen of Freelancer. I've converted my file to Wav, placed it in the AUDIO file, and changed the appropriate scripts. When I load up the Mod I get silence, but when I go to the Music Volume setting and move the tab up and down, i get the normal menu screen music.
Can anyone help me out here?

Hey Ruppet, according to my thinking, I think (no duh) that you need to define your music in either sounds.ini or music.ini (most likely music.ini) and add a block of text somthin' like this at da bottom:

[Sound
nickname = music_your_music_name_here
type = music
file = audio\music\music_your_music_name_here.wav
attenuation = -6
streamer = true

I have NO clue what attenuation means or what streamer means but I think me and you are on the right track

I think.

Did you already do this?

not every wav will work
wav is just a container for various sound types... even mp3 encoded wavs are possible
to find out which format the wav needs to have just open an existing one and use the same settings for the new one

Check the "Attenuation" level for your WAV.
Attenuation is effectively a volume changer. Negative values decrease the volume, 0 is normal volume and positive values boost the volume.

That said... -6 is about half volume. You might want to put it up to 0. I have a tutorial posted with instructions on how to convert sounds etc. so that they are in the correct format.
