Using solar models as asteroids.

I wanted to create a really large shipyard-like asteroid field. I wanted to use the models shipyard_a.3db in the Solar/dockable folder and space_tankl4.3db in the same folder. Currently I have replaced the models to the solar/asteroid/models folder and renamed with debris instead of space and shipyard. This is the asteroid_arch code.

[Asteroid
nickname = debris_tankl4
DA_archetype = solar\asteroids\models\debris_tankl4.3db
material_library = solar\Solar_mat_space_tank.mat
material_library = fx\envmapbasic.mat
envmap_material = envmapbasic

This is in the asteroidfield file at the solar/asteroids folder:

asteroid = debris_tankl4, 0.600000, 0.200000, -0.200000, 70, 20, 40
asteroid = debris_a, 0.200000, 0.800000, 0.300000, 90, 40, 0

And this is how it all appears:

... deformed models.

you can't use cmp's for asteroids; this is just what happens

I used a made cmp as asteroid some time ago, and it worked. These are however 3dbs just as normal asteroids.

hm well actually it did work, but half of it didn't show up (possibly because it was a multipart cmp, not a singlemesh) - anyways, i'm no expert on fixed asteroids (i loathe them, honestly - its physically impossible for asteroids to be totally still and unmovable) but i know the asteroid models are weird.. multilevel .3dbs on some of them, like tradelanes, and what will happen when you use these for dynamics is lod0 will show up before you shoot it, and then when it spawns again as a debris object (mephistophle's method) it will be lod1 if present.. it looks as if you're supposed to be able to destroy fixed asteroids and leave a depleted field, however this is not implemented and no one has figured out why afaik

well, it looks impressive...but I'm confused about it. I don't understand the screenshot. Is that a joined panoramic?

I maybe don't show it clearly that the models appear deformed when I use them as asteroids.
