o shield damege explained

To get 0 shield damage for your weapon what you have to do is 1: get the hull damage value for example hull_ damage = 500 . 2: take that value and divide it by two to get 250 . 3: make this number negative and insert it in to the shield damage place like this shield_ damage = -250 . And vola you have 0 shield damage fore which ever weapon you chose!

I take it that would make a weapon that can shot the hull and not damage shields

It would not as I remember. You can make gun making 0 damage to shields, but you
can't make it damage only hull when shields are on. Only when shields are down.

yes i know, but this kind of thing would be verry good for bullet weaponry and mabe some wepon thats only intended for unshilded capital ships.

We use negative shield damage to make "Hull Enhanced" weapons. The only side effect you run into is that if you have no shields they will suck down the target's powersupply as well.
